re: Mortal Kombat releasing at midnight on HBO Max

Fighting scenes were excellent. Kano was pretty damn funny. Effects mostly excellent.

Acting overall was subpar, and Sonya was not on the hotness level as the original. Most of the movie I felt like I was watching an online fanfic produced movie.

The original just seemed to have a better story. Subzero was a badass though.

First seven minutes are really good. They put a lot of work into that. Rest is pretty lame. Original is still the best.

Yeah I don't understand that. There's no guarantee this movie will get a sequel, but the entire thing is a setup for another film

There was a lot of stuff I liked in the film. I enjoyed the soundtrack, and the fights were a lot of fun.

That said, there were some creative missteps. I don't know why they cast a guy who can barely speak English to play Raiden.


Shang Tsung looks like he belongs in a Dynasty Warriors video game.

Cole is an awful character. His super power is what? Body armor and tonfas?

I can't believe they killed off Goro. He's literally the champion of Mortal Kombat up to that point. How can they have the first tournament without Goro?

The entire last fight was very weird. Usually, you don't see the good guys have the numbers advantage and gang up on the bad guy, but you do here. I kinda felt bad for Sub-Zero.

The original movie was better. I am highly biased.

But I did like this one. It just didn’t have a feeling of weight behind it

Story was all over the place. They expected fans to know the characters they have loved for years, yet they shite on the story and the characters.

If you wanted to make a story to set something up, actually character build scorpion and sub-zero in their own standalone film. Hell, hire the guys from The Raid to choreograph, etc. Make it dark..Scorpion and sub zero weren't from hundreds of years ago, but they can be from their isolated societies.

This is Mortal Kombat. This franchise has killed off and brought back to life half of the cast of characters at least once. Shang Tsung said in the end that death is just another portal as the dead guys evaporated. They could easily be back.

They completely hit sub zero out of the park. He was awesome in every scene
