this point, Jared Leto just needs to go back to 30 Seconds to Mars full time.

He’s not a bad actor. He’s just not a leading actor. Fantastic in supporting roles. But that’s about it

I enjoyed it for it was. the effects were a mess - especially at the end, and the villain was very MEF - but i would rather watch it again over the FF reboot, Xmen AoA and Dark Phoenix.

No way this movie deserves such a low rating. Take out the silly post credits and it’s a mid tier Marvel Studios movie. I’d watch this movie twice before watching Captain Marvel or Thor 2 again. Its main fault is a predictable plot and basic villain. Leto did fine with what they gave him.

Very forgettable villain. And another villain with the same powers as the hero which is lame.

Those are objectively the MCUs worst films. What a low fricking bar you’ve set.

Captain Marvel has a 74% RT rating.

Thor: The Dark World has a 66%.

That's the bar set by Rotten Tomatoes.

Audience score means more

Captain Marvel - 45%
Thor 2 - 75%
Morbius - 67%

Sounds like Morbius would be a movie to watch when on replay in the background like Thor 2

This. Morbius was never a popular comic book hero and making him the main character of a movie always struck me as an odd choice. And I had Morbius comic books. The guy just wasn't that interesting and only got his own series because some writers liked the concept of a vampire who was also a doctor that actively worked and took care of people, an idea which was more novel in the 90s and tortured heroes were 'in'

But the movie wasn't *that* bad.

Morbius was a hell of a lot better than Captain Marvel and Eternals.

The only thing the movie really got right was his look.

This movie is Mystery Science Theater level bad. My son and I laughed out loud in the final fight scene. The sad part is I thought Leto did as well as he could. I liked him as Morbius. The rest was hot garbage. Terrible villain, who has identical powers. And the final fight scene, oh that fight scene.

SPOILERS:

He uses a “hadouken” of bats that he summoned somehow ( this ability to summon bats isn’t even hinted at prior) to defeat the bad guy. We busted out laughing.

All in all, we enjoyed making fun of it as father and son, and so I am glad we went to watch it, but it’s a terrible film.

That’s exactly what happened. At this point when a movie gets panned it’s become a signal that the movie is probably good.

Yet another example of how desperate Sony is to create a shared universe.

Definitely wrong. 39 million. Probably would have been better if not for terrible reviews

They lucked out with Venom 1, because the second Venom was average at best.

Which is really disappointing, because if you can do a "mature" superhero movie then Venom fighting Carnage is about the best source material you can get.

SPOILERS:

The fight and flying scenes with the smoke tendrils behind him were cringe level bad. None of his powers in the comic involved the ability to control bats, although he could "hypnotize" people like traditional vampires can. Turning Martine into a vampire at the end isn't completely out of line with the comics (he can do it, but it's very rare), but it felt very forced. I was also a bit disappointed that they didn't show him in his traditional costume from the comics, although they at least hinted at it when he wore the black coat with the purple lining. Overall, it was a bad movie. The character deserves better.

I didn't mind it. I could see they were desperate to try something new.
