Searched and didn't see a thread on it.

Another Taylor Sheridan show.

Anyone else watching this? It's really good so far. I got excited when Kyle Chandler was in it.. but then he's only in it for the first episode.

The murder scene in the prison where "The End" by The Doors is playing in the background is

I watched the first 2 episodes but don't stream for the rest... I'm one of the few that still has direct tv...

I did enjoy the first 2 episodes though. Looked like it had potential to become a great series. That lap dance....

I have been watching from the beginning and so far I don't hate it. Feels a little like "The Wire" lite. That said, I feel like Renner's acting isn't up to his usual standard. Its like he doesn't care sometimes.

I'm pretty disappointed he was only in one episode. I think him and renner would have made a good combo. I do enjoy the show but I think it would be better with Chandler included.

I will give them credit I absolutely did not see his death coming

I see it advertised during Yellowstone and it looks great. Really want to watch it but being only on paramount+ holds me back. Really don’t want another streaming service in pay for but with this and 1883 I might just do it.

You should recognize at least 2 of the actors.

The LS agent in YS that killed the guys in the horse trailer plays a big part as the local head prison guard in MoK. The Sheriff in YS plays a senior local cop in MoK.

Not much of a stretch for either actor. Pretty similar characters for both.

Started this series yesterday and caught up after today's episode release.

Really really good show. Going to keep my Paramount+ subscription another month to finish this season out.

Surprised there's not more chatter on this board about this one. Solid plot.

They are both in Wind River also. In case it hasn’t been seen I won’t say what roles they play b/c of obvious spoilers, but they are def part of Sheridan’s crew.

I read that Hugh Dillon, the bald sheriff/cop, is the one who came up w/ the idea for MoK. He’s from a town in Canada that has a ton of prisons.

Sheridan has his favorites like the main prison guard. He’s been in every one of his movies and shows I believe

Really starting to dig this show after a confusing start. Doesn’t always hit the mark and I think it falls short of some of the prestige TV it aspires to be but still a fun ride.

Interesting. I figured it was based on Oklahoma, since I believe they have the highest inmate ratio in the country per capita from what I’ve read

The town is actually named Kingston in real life, it’s in Ontario.

From Wiki

quote:

Kingston has the largest concentration of federal correctional facilities in Canada. The facilities are operated by the Correctional Service of Canada. Of the nine institutions in the Kingston area, seven are within the city's municipal boundaries.

I make fun of it out of love but if you were to ever spoof this show, half the scenes would be Renner driving around as someone calls him to tell him they need to meet and him telling them to frick off and then they threaten him to come now or else, and then he decides to go then

I’m really liking this series. Might not be the best thing ever but it’s pretty entertaining.

Somewhere in the 2nd episode Renner shoots a bow and arrow and misses. Seemed like they were trying to be ironic. I chuckled.

Yeah it’s kind of like elevated trashy TV I could see myself loving it in a couple of years or going so far off the rails eventually that it loses me entirely

Gotta say I could use a little less of the prostitute whose getting passed around every gang and I’m glad they didn’t just keep it going after the white supremacists were done with her (and what it lead to was fricking awesome). But after like the 2nd time they cut back to her in that house I was like I gotta skip this, just too brutal and gross to watch.

They seemed to set her character up initially like she was going to be a real chess mover with all the gangs and with Renner, but she pretty quickly just got tore up and spit out. Guess that speaks to how nuts the city is, but also not sure where they really go with her character from here

Solid show for what it is, but I agree it *just* misses the mark on the show it strives to be.

Does it annoy anyone else that Renner always has his suit jacket on? I mean he drives with it on, and in a recent episode he’s shoveling with it on. Lol

The only reason I gave it a go was for Coach Taylor. I definitely almost quit watching after episode 1, but my wife wanted to keep watching so I did.

It's grown on me, and I do like it now.

Nailed it

It's funny because the way they introduced her when they made the call to bring Iris to town to deal with Jeremy Renner, I thought Iris was going to be some kind of badas...not the case.

ETA: I replied before reading your next paragraph, basically saying the same thing lol.

I really don't get the sitting in the yard and never able to leave the neighborhood, but I'm a big fan of Bunny, he's really good in this one. His scenes with Renner are some of the best IMO.

Yeah it seems like a pretty unnecessarily heavy handed metaphor for the prison being on the outside as well but love when he pops up, just gets to kind of bop Renner in the head and tell him to make a decision and fix it
