Personally I thought it sucked arse too, emo Bruce Wayne, the riddler started out solid but then was just a whiny bitch and his plan was dumb, the Waynes “twist” I also didn’t care for.
Many seemed to like it because it showcased Batman being a detective but overall it was meh at best
I thought even the detective aspect was overhyped. It was mostly the usual Batman arc of him coming to terms with inner demons except amped to heavy emo levels. And the Riddler? I kept expecting Daniel Day Lewis to come chasing after him with a bowling pin. Does that dude ever play anything other than a hysterical psycho?

You should probably avoid Batman Comics, then. Most of his titles are, let's say, less than action driven.
They are typically Batman using science and detective skills to find out why the reservoir smells like farts.
Usually takes 20 pages to find the guy what needs punching.

First one wasn’t that great anyway.
It was okay until Paul Dano started signing and the forced joker cameo was cringe. Also way too long.

They need to give Batman films a rest for a while. It’s already becoming over saturated and the quality has been going down ever since the release of the last Nolan film in 2012.

I hope this movie dies. The first one was just ok.
What would that do for you?

Apparently I enjoyed The Batman much more than a lot of people. I really liked it, and it’s probably my 2nd favorite Batman film behind The Dark Knight.

I loved it too.
Batman Returns is my number 1.
Then Batman (1989)
But I put it above the Nolan movies.

it's definitely the 2nd best film behind The Dark Knight. Batman Begins in a very close 3rd.
if it was the BCS poll:
1) The Dark Knight - 0.9999
2) The Batman - 0.9875
3) Batman Begins - 0.9874

Don't let this board fool you, the movie was very well received.

Yeah the only issues were what you mentioned: too much plot that gave a weak final part.
I have no clue why writers/producers/directors are so invested in overly complicated plots these days. It's like they've lost the ability to do twists and turns without 2.5 hours and 17 linear threads being weaved together at the same time with reveals along the way to introduce each thread.
This really ramped up with the Dark Knight. That was 1.5 movies squeezed into one and it really affected it. I remember talking about this criticism on opening night after watching a midnight screening.
This is an underrated aspect of the golden era of Marvel movies. They were pretty good about not falling into this trap and I think that's why they worked. Being able to tell a story over 20 movies helps avoid this.

I believe it's studio interference. The third act, with the big set piece, just feels different than the rest of the film. Studios always seem to demand that comic book films end with these big battles

+1 shoehorning Two Face into the last act was terrible. He should have been saved for the next film.

It's been hinted that it's a serious medical issue involving a family member.

No, most people enjoyed it. It made almost 800 million at the box office and has a really good ratings. The majority of the board liked it when it came out but this thread for some reason brought out the haters.

I expected to hate it and didn't.
The more I've watched it the more I appreciate it. It's hard to compare to the Nolan films. It was hard to imagine them being topped (outside of the last one). But the mood/cinematography is incredible. It may be the best looking/most immersive batman world ever.

I hope you're including the last Nolan film in this. Because it was a mess.
My rankings right now:
1) The Dark Knight/The Batman (I may have some recency bias on the new one
2) Batman(89 Keaton)/Begins (Bale)
3) Dark Knight Rises
4) Batman Returns
5) Everything else.
