quote:

In short, he was not a fan of the script. And in addition to calling out Tony Gilroy, he blames Universal for giving the screenwriter a sweetheart deal that only required one draft from him.

"It's really the studio’s fault for putting themselves in that position," Damon tells GQ. "I don't blame Tony for taking a boatload of money and handing in what he handed in. It’s just that it was unreadable. This is a career-ender. I mean, I could put this thing up on eBay and it would be game over for that dude. It's terrible. It's really embarrassing. He was having a go, basically, and he took his money and left."

And that's because it was fricking terrible.

That and they had nothing to do with the books. Has it really been four years? I've only seen it once and was less than impressed.

Did none of the 3 follow the books or just the 3rd? I agree the 3rd was terrible. I really enjoyed the first movie though.

I really loved the first, like the 2nd and then was roundly lambasted for recognizing how shitty the third one was - and I have no knowledge of the books whatsoever.

i thought i remember the writer of the books saying how closely the first movie followed the books. I'm not sure about the other.

I really liked the first. the choreography was great

Actually, the first 1/3 of the 3rd one was pretty good. It just went so absurdly off the deep end after that.

the first was great with the action because you could actually see what was happening in the fight sequences.

the 2nd started that crap with the motion camera that makes you feel queasy just watching it, but it wasn't too bad.

The third was like the director and cinematographer had never heard of a tripod. not to mention the story was lacking.

Matt Damon also hated John Woo's The Bourne Ultimatum

FIFY

The third movie sucked balls, which was a shame.

Ludlum died before the first movie came out.

The books are very good, I'd reccommend them. Each successive movie follows the books less. It is a rather linea, the more the movies departed from the books the more they sucked.

none of the followed the books...at all really.

I mean Conklin died in the first one and he was like Bourne's best friend throughout the book series. Marie and Jason got married and had kids in the books, yet she died really early in the 2nd movie, iirc.

The third book was all about Bourne v. the Jackal and it was a really badass book that would've made an outstanding movie imo.

I had trouble watching the first even though it was decent. Didnt' even give the other two a try.

This is funny to me. I always argue with people that 1 was the best, 2nd a close 2nd, and 3rd was awful.

Most people tell me that the third was the best.

It should have been called The Bourne Jesus, as he simply became superhuman.
