Crazy how one side says it’s woke crap and the other says misogynistic man splaining….sums up the current climate about right

Not one time where I thought it was some BS message trying to get through.

I haven't heard anyone at all calling it woke

No idea what that poster was talking about

The basic breakdown:

It all started with the director, Travis Knight, suggesting Skeletor would be the embodiment of "Toxic Masculinity"

Anytime that phrase pops up, it raises hackles, and makes people suspicious

Then the teela chick said her role was a fighting masculinity or some shite (forgot the exact quote tbh)

Then it all died down and the early reviews dragged it all back up. . .with progressives saying it had "radical messaging" and "fascinating takes on masculinity"

Even then, I felt it was gay theater kid shite. . .looks as though I was right

quote:

I am betting that stuff isn't in the film. . .just theater kids reading shite into it

Kinda like the hairy pit ugly chicks telling you Wizard of Oz is really about the Patriarchy and Late Stage Capitalism.

LOVE the way they kept Skeletor and all his henchmen were powerful with a touch of stupid, just like the cartoon I remember. Even Skeletors laughing half the movie was perfect.
That is good to hear

I heard one reviewer say they forgot to give Evil Lynn a personality, and she is just ends up being Skeletor's "Yes Man"

True?

I heard the other henchman were solid, though

I think he and his wife are going tonight so I’m sure we’ll get that side of the Internet’s pov soon

I think he’s one of the YouTubers he invites on the joint streams sometimes

Yep Gore, Robert Meyer Burnett and Knight’s Watch are the ones I like. Some of the others I think are kind of over the top rage bait but those give analysis and are thoughtful

I suppose. I always remember her being Skeletors right hand and doing his bidding. She was his bully here and there but she was more of an advisor.

She was always trying to usurp Skeletor

Pretty much everytime she gained any power, one of the first things she would do is smack down Skeletor

Always viewed it as akin to a Sith Lord/Apprentice situation where the Lynn did his bidding so long as his aims met hers

I see what you’re getting at and it’s probably a fair criticism that I’ve seen a few people make now. That they wanted something more from her. I don’t remember the cartoon that well so I didn’t have a preconceived idea of what she is so it was fine for me

Aaah, ok. That does make sense. It’s been quite a while since I’ve seen anything He-Man, so I’m sure you’re right.

I said it makes sense because of the end credit scene. My observation still sticks though. She wasn’t trying to usurp his power at all. She was by his side the whole time but she never gave off the vibe that she was trying to take over…

When the Queen needle drop hit, signaling the beginning of the third act, the movie hit another level.

Fun, and self aware of who and what He-Man is. I need more Battle Cat.

Hell yeah, Battle Cat needs to be front and center next time. And I have an inkling he'll get it in a sequel

I'd love to see King Hiss

So fkn fun. What a great nod to my childhood. Loved how they payed homage to the cartoon and kept the politics out of it. Fkn great!
