No offense, but did you have the same cynicism when Cap fought the elevator full of guys in Winter Soldier?
It's a Super hero show about a blind guy with superhuman senses and reflexes. Suspension of disbelief is kinda required.

He doesn't have super healing and he isn't indestructible like many super heroes.
The fighting is over the top ridiculous. Don't think I said the show sucked but it is flawed and over the top given his weak abilities.
By the way, even if you believe he has some super core strength or pain tolerance what about every criminal he fights? They are normal.
They all seem to have the same tolerance for pain and ability in martial arts that he has.
And yes, I actually did complain that normal people in Winter Soldier were being hit with punches and slammed into walls without any long term or in most cases even short term damage.
It is one thing to have Hulk or Thor fall 30 feet, crash through a roof and then get up like nothing happened. Entirely something else for a non healing, non armored hero to hop up like they tripped over a rock.
Once again, I didn't say the show sucks. Just said it is flawed which it is and it has nothing to do with suspension of disbelief. That old chestnut gets pulled out too often as an excuse to shoddy writing and the refusal to stick with a characters abilities.

quote:Only 5 episodes in but I disagree with this.... outside of him fighting the Chinese (who they assume people would think know basic martial arts) he has only fought 1 other person who has shown the ability of martial arts. Majority fight like normal people and he is using the martial arts.

Now the pain tolerance you may have something but outside of the Russians who has really shown much of a pain tolerance? I mean they are freaking Russians man, they're like crazy.
I don't find any of the fighting scenes over the top than say any other TV Show/Movie that I've ever seen in my entire life.
quote:but that didn't happen, dude laid there for what was supposed to be several minutes although TV time is faster, then gets up and could barely walk/move took him several minutes (what was probably longer in television time) to get his bearings back.

Now you may have something on every time he gets into a fight and we see these significant injuries he wakes up the next morning and he is not sore, able to move. Adrenaline can explain him being able to get back up most o the time but that is not flowing the next day when his body would be sore like a mother fricker from falling through 3 flights of floors.

I enjoyed the show overall. I do feel like it dropped off a considerable amount in the last couple of episodes. I just feel like it bit off more than it could chew at the end. The action scenes also drop off in quality, like they didn't invest as much time or money in them. The first half is absolutely solid.
All in all, I'm excited to see where the next season takes us.
******SPOILERS FOR THE LAST EPISODE BELOW*******
I liked the suit at the end. I thought Daredevil looked badass, but the reveal of it was a little anticlimactic. I was expecting more action. It just felt kind of cheap at the end. I mean, when we first see the suit and he pulls out his new weapons it's like "holy shite, that's fricking cool". But soon after things just kind of fall flat, IMO.
ETA: Time to use my new Netflix subscription, LOL. Off to watch House of Cards.

6 episodes in...after watching this, I'm convinced more than ever that Hawkeye:My Life as a Weapon (By Fraction, Aja and Hollingsworth) would be a phenonmal piece to be intergrated in the MCU, telling the story of a street level talent who plays in the big leagues and what he does on his off days.
ETA: You shouldn't be positing spoilers one day in, imo.

I have watched a few episodes and the show is great. I prefer Arrow but to be honest that is because they lucked into casting Emily Bett Rickards who brings a much needed sense of humor to the show.
Daredevil is a very solid series with excellent acting and great cinematography. I cannot praise the show enough to be honest.
Is it the GOAT superhero show? Well to be honest we are lucky enough to be in the Golden Age of not only superhero movies but TV shows as well. As I said I prefer Arrow, but I would not bat an eye at someone picking Daredevil as the new standard.

it's all subjective, but Arrow's terrible acting(by some) and worse dialogue puts that well below Daredevil, which has raised the bar to extraordinarily new heights.
and Rosario Dawson is hot enough to make me not think about Rickards...to each his own. I don't want make this an Arrow vs. Daredevil thread.

Lulz, you must hate almost every TV show, movie, and book ever made.

I've only had time today to get through the first 5 episodes. GF bailed out at the end of episode 4, it was just to much for her. Really enjoying it a LOT so far. I don't really like the all black costume, I know it's from Man Without Fear but I still think DD should always be in red and have "horns".
My only goal for tomorrow is to finish the series before Game of Thrones.

I can see season 2 being about Frank Castle running rampant in New York.

Would love to see that.

I just powered through 13 episodes. Absolutely fricking Epic. 10/10.
I mostly watch Super Hero stories to be entertained. This one pulled me in beyond anything I have ever seen on television. I would say this is as good, if not better then Winter Soldier last year.
Gotham, Arrow, Agents of Shield and Flash really look decidedly average after watching this.
I do have a few quibbles with how they wrote Kingpin (Fisk) but beyond that. I, as a long time comic book fan, could not ask for a better written, better acted portrayal of Daredevil then this show. It's not for kids and that makes it a damn good thing.
They made Kingpin a whinny bitch. That really bothered me a lot. Perhaps since this was his origins story that had something to do with it, Kingpin was an arrogant narcissist full of rage, but self-confidence. The whole Vanessa story line did nothing for me.
The costume in the finale. fricking dead on.

Was the mention of the Greek girl in episode 10 Elektra Natcios?

If they make the Punisher's origin story and first few missions (modernized of course) an actual main plot point that gets spun into a few good seasons later, I'll be a VERY happy camper. (If it's decent"

I think Flash actually goes for more of a campy comic book feel which I enjoy.
This is definitely what the arrow goes for but can't...due to bad actors and being on the cw.
The fight scenes are reminding me a lot of the raid and one fight scene was a lot like old boy.

I don't think he is a whiny bitch, I think it is progression of a character. Right now they kinda showed his softer side but near the end of the season after things started to happen you could see his sadistic side.
Next season he will come back and be cruel and sadistic I believe.
One thing about Kingpin that bothers me is the voice that D'Onofrio uses. Just bothers me to no end

I agree with this. I really liked their choice of giving the villain a true confidant. He is telling Vanessa stuff even Wesley doesn't know. It provides great insight into the choices Fisk is making. He wants a prosperous Hells Kitchen. However, is upbring taught him that chaos and fighting is the only way to do it. Hell after he kills his dad. The first thing his mom does is to tell him to get the saw. Teaching him to not apologize for violence, death, or destruction. But to use it to get what he wants. Telling that story through Fisk words and not just a flashback is more impactful. Especially considering he tells it to what appears to be the first one he cares about and she supports him only further reinforces his belief of destroy to rebuild.
