He's just a cypher to get to more interesting characters like, well, all of Excalibur, which is one of the single most brilliant books in Marvel's history. Just some wonderfully batshit insane things. He's immune to magic, so he's a great entry point to magical characters.
I do agree that Marvel's best ability is having a coherent vision, but also being able to adjust on the fly. They have a plan, but they aren't rigidly married to it, which allows them to have the occasional miss.
But I am so pumped over the Inhumans. Black Bolt, FTMFW.

And given what they've done so far, I think the Inhumans are going to be the basis of the Phases Post A4, and that's a group that while explored in the books, wasn't really fully fleshed out.
They have A LOT of room to create. Guardians on steroids in terms of no familiarity but enough of a story and set up to go to some big places.

There is no way GotG does not tie in to Inhumans. And, in this universe, we've established Thor and the rest of Asgard are aliens, not gods, so they also can tie in. MORE LOKI!

Either would be great There's the Katee Sackhoff rumors too. They'll probably do the same as a lot of their early casting choices. Someone sub-40 yo, slightly famous but not too famous, and really looks the part.Jessica Biel's star has fallen off just enough and she fits the Avengers age range. Kate Bosworth would be alright.
