How can anyone not remember the corrupt police getting the bomb up his *>*_+&*. Denzel walks away and pushes the button. Ouch.

Never seen Taken, but Man on Fire is the shite.

Man on Fire. I wasn't all that impressed with Taken.

This should not even be a debate.
Man On Fire was about 1000 times better.
Taken was terrible, boring, very predictable. The ONLY redeeming quality about Taken was when he shoots that chick in the arm. Everything else was extremely boring.
Denzel was so much better, not even close.

Forgiveness is between them and God. It's my job to arrange the meeting.
A man can be an artist... in anything, food, whatever. It depends on how good he is at it. Creasey's art is death. He's about to paint his masterpiece.

Okay, my friend. It's off to the next life for you. I guarantee you, you won't be lonely.

Taken.
I had actually seen these threads before I watched Man On Fire, so I was expecting it to be incredible. And it simply wasn't. It was good, yes. But nothing special.
Both are good movies, I just like Taken more. Liam Neeson was a surprisingly good badass.

Man on Fire
Saw Taken last night. Enjoyed the movie, but my biggest gripe is that they could have left out the parts dealing with the daughter/famous singer thing. That was cheesy and unnecessary.

I am not a father yet and don't plan on being one for a several years, but Liam taught me I have some work to do. He made me realize I need to be more of a bad arse before I become a dad.
Could you imagine that being your girl's dad? He would definitely be intimidating.

Now I have to go watch Man on Fire again. I haven't seen it in forever.
And Man on Fire > Taken. Taken was good, but like everyone else said, Man on Fire was just a badass movie.

I wonder if seeing it first has something to do with liking it more..??
I saw Taken before MoF, and like Taken a little better.

MoF was more in depth than Taken. Taken was just lets get to the action now.

Man on Fire. I watched Slumdog Millionaire last night and was pretty disappointed.

I agree with that. I think Taken was Man on Fire without the character development and slick Tony Scott directing style. Man on Fire was the better movie, but I liked the ending to Taken more.

Damn, it's a hard call.
I just saw Taken last night and was very blown away.
But my gut says Man on Fire and I'm not even sure why. Although Neeson was great, something about Denzel and/or his role was a little bit more of a hook. Also I think Fanning played a part in giving it the edge too, because a younger child in danger evokes more emotion than an older one, and she was feared as dead for much of the movie, while with Neeson's daughter it was just a possibility.
But I like the scope of Taken and how he went though so many different levels of society to save his daughter. The action was well done too.
They probably could have built up the storyline on Neeson and his daughter a good bit more, too.
Man on Fire also had a grittier and dirtier, and hence more realistic, feel to it.
