Yea, but there is always the theme of the show that we end up just like our parents. Wouldn't surprise me

You do know just because it's a "happy" ending =\= shitty ending

Don gave Stephanie the same advice he gave to Peggy. Move forward. Only this time Stephanie said that that isn't going to work. You can't run away from your problems and then move forward. You deal with your problems, so you don't lose sight of who you are. He went home to take care of his kids and created the hilltop Coke ad.

I thought the finale was fantastic.....
My only concerns:questions:
1) from a few episodes ago- wouldn't "inventing Lite Beer" be as intriguing an AD job as coke? I mean, to reinvent a whole industry seems big, but seemed to be the turning point of Don's breakdown
2) Roger needs a spinoff show.....special guest Lee Garner Jr
3) they only decided to do blow off of Joan's....... pinky? Really? There were other natural forces at hand.
4) what happened to Meagans career
5) Harry was already smoking black cigarettes?

Agree. Don was a shoot from the hip ad guy. From the gut. When he was moved by his circumstances, then he could do the coke ad. Before he was affected, he didn't have the coke ad in him. When he smiled, the coke ad was forming in his head.

Legendary pitch man creates the most successful ad campaign of all time.
This show couldn't have ended any other way. It's brilliant.

I don't think it's a happy ending for Don; he is overcoming a crisis, just like he did with the divorce, and the firing. I don't think he becomes magically changed into Father of the year at all. Sally will obviously be the caregiver in the Draper household. Don does what he always does: he uses his personal experience to create a fictional reality to sell something: himself or a product, or whatever.

The question that is unanswered isn't "Did he do the Coke ad?" He definitely did the ad. The question is, did he change? I think that is a yes as well. In that he couldn't do that coke ad until he had changed, ie, hit bottom.

I concur. Even I was like "Wut?" after it was over. But I only had to think about it for a minute to realize the gravity of it.

The beauty of it is you can assume that and I can assume what I do and we're both "right".

Ending was great. They closed almost every character arc. So the cliffhanger/ambiguity hating people shouldn't bitch,
And I for one am glad Don didn't die. That's been fricken done to death and beyond... Walter White, Bill Paxton in Big Love, Nucky Thompson (which realy sucked because his historical counterpart lived a pretty long life), Tony Soprano (probably)

I do sense a spinoff or possibly a feature film (a la Sex and the City) at some point.

Considering the build up, the finale was fantastic. I had some pretty low expectations. And I really enjoyed it. Excellent show.

What was the deal with the car stuff with Don in the beginning? Set the time frame of the episode? I wasn't paying enough attention to remember anything worthwhile.
Also, Roger dropped some classic Roger lines to close it out

Too bad it seems Sally will have to be "Betty junior"

We do have differing views; I don't see happy endings for Pete, or Don or Roger. They are who they are and the grass will always be greener around the corner for those guys. I do think Peggy finds a balance in her life with Stan as her husband because he will allow her ambition to be realized without making her feel guilty.

Dude, it's coca-cola. That's about as big as it gets.
