Megan's plane crashes. I am calling it.

That scene was so short, and ended so abruptly I thought the same thing at first. They've already had one plane crash on this show though (the one that killed Pete's dad).

My take was that Pete's girl and Megan are going back to California where they belong. They are leaving Pete and Don in New York, where they belong.

From Wiki:
quote:

Between 1948 and 1957, there were 15 hijackings worldwide, an average of a little more than one per year. Between 1958 and 1967, this climbed to 48, or about five per year. The number dropped to 38 in 1968, but grew to 82 in 1969, the largest number in a single year in the history of civil aviation; in January 1969 alone, eight airliners were hijacked to Cuba.[7] Between 1968 and 1977, the annual average jumped to 41.

Didn't even think about a hijacking. That would be some crazy shite

This season has been wonderful so far. I'm still pissed that it ends next week. I hate AMC for this half season BS.

It really is dumb. Mad Men isnt breaking bad. Mad men slowly sets pieces up and things in motion at the beginning of a season so that its like a train slowly building up speed and gaining momentum when things are coming into place later on. It doesnt rely on cliff hangers from episode to episode. They are gonna kill all the momentum by stopping it now.

I doubt that anyone will watch the final half season in 2015.

AMC is trying to make one season last for two years. I'm glad they aren't doing four episode seasons and spreading them out over three years.

Completely agree and Mad Men is my favorite show ever. AMC was just like well this worked with Breaking Bad so let's do it again even though the shows couldn't be more different.

Next year when it's back none of us will care anymore and we will be happy it's on, but right now I'm not happy. This season is turning out to be great and the split is going to hinder that greatness regardless. The ONLY silver lining I see is that Weiner's season finales have been some of the best episodes of the series. This way we get two of them.

Great episode. I love the "we've been together 7 years through all these ups downs I can't help but like/trust you guys" mentality that seems to be showing with Pete, Don, and Peggy.

Also love dons smirk when Cutler gets Harry named partner bc don knows Harry is the same as Pete and Peggy in that regard. As successful as all three have become, they all still view don with reverence and crave his approval.

As far as the dance scene, I thought it was beautiful. Like everyone else I think it'd be awful if they hooked up, but I think that scene confirmed Wiener doesn't plan on doing that. It's almost more of a father/daughter relationship

Anyone eles think Roger sabotages the Phillip Morris deal and helps land Buick with Pete, Joan, Don and Peggy which helps push out Cutler and and Lou?

Thats my theory at least.

Yeah this season started out slow but has really picked up the last few episodes.

Elisabeth Moss has been so good this season. Would love to see her finally take home an Emmy

Definitely. This show not having any acting Emmys is a shame even though the voters rewarded the series overall with tied for the most ever for a Drama series.

What a fricking episode.

Harry Crane getting that partnership. About damn time.

Sucks we have to wait a year. It isn't a cliffhanger like Breaking Bad. It's worse than a cliffhanger like that.

Brilliant episode.

Knew they'd have one with Don and Peggy coming back full circle.

This episode is the epitome of Mad Men.

Slow Burn. But patience is rewarded.

Some episodes have personal revelations - some have shift-changing drama - some just make the soap opera move forward...and some are deeply poetic and truthful about life.

It's not a great great episode per se in doing all of those - but I enjoyed this episode...it was a light version of..."Signal 30"...

Which is simply the greatest episode which captures what Mad Men is about...captures all those above nuances...and comes home with a deep revelation.

There is no better ending in Mad Men history than Signal 30 - if you know what Pete was all about and what he thought he wanted and realized - his heroes were from a generation past he no longer fit into - and the desire to emulate what he thought was Don - but wasn't - it's the greatest episode in showing times changing and how you can strive for something that no longer exists without realizing it.

LINK

But this episode brought the old Mad Men vibe back. It worked because it made you feel you have really grown and lived with these people...Pete, Peggy and Don at Burger Shack. God, this episode felt personal.

I guess the slow burn works - I doubt anyone has ever felt more connected to a show than Mad Men.

Great post. I loved Signal 30, but I think The Suitcase and the last 10 minutes of last night top that episode.

Many complain about Mad Men being "slow" or boring which truly upsets me. Sure there are other great shows, but Mad Men is a personal show that we can all connect to on a seriously deep level. A great episode of Mad Men makes me experience every emotion so strongly unlike anything else.

I don't ever expect to encounter another show like Mad Men in my life. There are tons of others on now that I love, but Mad Men is in its own class. It's about life and what it means to be alive and how we deal with our problems. If I ever connect to another show on such a deep personal level again I will be so thrilled. I'm going to miss it terribly after next year.

You know we have another episode this week, right? Wouldn't want you to miss the actual cliffhanger.

Seven seasons now. Wow. Is it any good? Has there been any shark jumping prior to this season?
