Her last image walking into McCann was the perfect sendoff IMO. I think Peggy is done.

Possible, but I hope not because, with their mother dying, that'd be a shitty thing to do to his kids.

Yeah, that would be a crappy ending.

He was being a smartass but he's practically right. Fewer than 2% of cases are initially diagnosed before the mid 40s. Almost 70% are diagnosed over 65.

Pete has actually gone from being a despicable little shite to at least tolerable.
I think Pete and Peggy's characters have had the most profound arcs. Moreso than Don even. Pete's been growing on me since the fight with Lane.

Don's been away from McCann, and away from home, and on the road, for three months now.
So its safe to say he's done at McCann then. There's no going back. This isn't like his trip to California where he just popped back in after a few weeks.
Peggy and Pete's stories are complete IMO. They've both reached some conclusion and their final scenes have been perfect. Peggy walking into McCann like a boss with her box (which is perfect symmetry to her entrance in the first episode). Pete reconciling with Trudy and talking about how they've answered their daughter's birthday wish. Sure, they could have an epilogue but it wouldn't shock me if we've seen the last of them.
What's Roger's story at this moment? He's been a great character but his storyline hasn't really been one that needs a conclusion. Would hate it if we saw the last of him but what is there to really tell?
Usually with finales, you know you're going to get a rundown of some of the greatest hits and at least see all of the main characters. I don't know what to expect with Mad Men. We could get an all Don episode or not. Don's storyline could literally go so many different ways. To be honest, the last few episodes have felt like one, long drawn out finale.

does anyone recognize the underwear guy in hotels.com commercial as pete's brother - I'll try to find a pic.

I'm thinking about popping in an episode on Sundays for old times sake every now and then. Just one. Might have to incorporate the previously and next on bumpers.

I think we'll see more of Don,Peggy,Roger,Pete, and Joan in the finale. I've read that only the 5 main original cast members filmed the finale episode and that only they and the crew knew what the final episode read like.

For some reason, I'm picturing The Big Chill, with everybody around Roger's coffin, reminiscing about the old times.
That would suck.

Breaking Bad took me down hard. This one is going to be pretty rough. I hope they make it a good one.

Interesting passage from Milk and Honey route that was linked a few pages back:
quote:
The road the real hobo follows is never ending. It is always heading into the sunset of promise but it never fully keeps its promise. Thus the road the hobo roams always beckons him on, much as does the undealt card in a game of stud. Every new bend of the road is disillusioning but never disappointing, so that once you get the spirit of the hobo you never reach the stone wall of utter disillusionment. You follow on hopefully from one bend of the road to another, until in the end you step off the cliff.

Hmmm. I thought it was a really great episode and was/am really pulling for Pete and his family. Don's "in America" experiences have been really bewildering, but they make sense in the context of who he really is and what he's looking for/running from. I felt for Betts, then hated her for walking past Sally, then gained a world of respect for what has turned out to be a great show of strength on her part. Henry managed to piss me off even when he showed himself to actually be a human--by sobbing into his hands and requiring aid from a child who just found out that her mother is dying instead of comforting her.
I don't have any expectations for the finale because this last season (well second part of the last season) hasn't been anything like what I expected. I'd like to see Roger again. I'd like to see Don and Sally together. The boys are really Henry's for all intents and purposes, but his relationship with Sally should remain important. Wouldn't mind seeing Peggy again, but won't miss it if we don't. I think Pete's done. I think Joan's done (and don't care). The last episode will have to center almost entirely around whatever Don decides will be his next/last act, but you can't just send someone like Roger off without some kind of something. Just a quip.

If it's as good as that I'll be so damn happy. The final scene with Raylan and Boyd was like a punch in the feels. Greatness.

Will the finale be 2 hours? I seem to recall reading that.
