No season 3

Creative differences cited

I think I heard Colter was extended, so it may be Disney hoarding it's properties

This and Iron Fist are the weakest of the Defenders franchise. No surprise there

While I enjoyed the 2nd season, I’m not upset. Same with Iron Fist.

Give me 10 seasons of Punisher and Daredevil though, please.

They're probably gonna switch to a Heroes for Hire show.

Iron Fist is much better than Luke Cage.

A source tells The Hollywood Reporter the cancellation was due to creative differences and the inability to agree to terms for a third season of the show.

Sounds like it was about money. If that's the case I don't think we see a Heroes for Hire happening because then you have to pay 2 leads. If any spinoff does happen I would think it'd be Daughters of the Dragon. Marvel says it's the most requested spinoff, Colleen and Misty would be cheaper, and they fit the current Girl Power climate.

Marvel is racist for cancelling it.

Coming soon on Netflix:

Heroes for Hire
Daughters of the Dragon

quote:

because then you have to pay 2 leads

2 leads for 13 episodes total is much cheaper than 2 leads for 26 episodes.

Plus you can greatly streamline the actual supporting characters:

-No need for the Meachums
-Mariah Dillard and Cornell Stokes are both dead so no need to re-sign Alfre Woodard or Marshalah Ali

This also tells me that Marvel might be giving Feige more control over the TV division.

I'm guessing that Netflix isn't allowed to create new Marvel series. They can just continue the current series.

Maybe, but the head of Marvel TV seemed pretty supportive of the shows in a recent interview. He's the one that mentioned there's a lot of demand for a Daughters of the Dragon spinoff, he even is the one that suggested the addition of Typhoid Mary to IF S2.

Now that they own Fox their service has more than enough content and intellectual property for new shows to get as big as Netflix. I don't see how restricting Netflix helps Disney. Netflix paying Disney to license content they don't need is basically like Disney getting a cut of Netflix subscriptions in addition to having their own service.

I've been saying this for years, and I think/pray networks are catching on.

The broadcast tv landscape is one that is now harder than ever to create a break-out hit. Harder to create, harder to market. Networks spend millions of dollars on pilots and 1-2 seasons of shows they cancel before the world even knows they exist.

Bob's Burgers is my standard example. I watched it from the pilot on, but literally every single fan of the show that I have met in real life "discovered" it on Netflix or by word of mouth. The animation genre was stale when it was released and the after-NFL Sunday timeslot moves around, gets delayed, has odd weekly breaks, etc. So having it available in one block and since it lends itself to rewatch, it was a perfect marriage. Once Fox yanked their content off Netflix, I quit keeping up with even live airings.

Evidence that networks are catching on - I started seeing commercials for The Good Place season 2 on NBC that said "Catch up with Season 1 on Netflix!"

What kind of moronic idea is it to hide your shows from 115 million subscribers and a company that will literally pay you for the rights to advertise for you.

This is nothing new. Futurama went "undiscovered" until it was rerun on CN. It was directly after the Sunday games, so it was pre-empted repeatedly.

Family Guy's issues were tied to FOX moving it to play against NBC's Thursday night juggernaut programming. But it was rediscovered on CN as well.

Luke Cage reminded me of a 70s porno.

I think FGs resurgence was more from DVD sales than TV reruns.

I'd bet money Jessica Jones will end after season 3. This past season wasn't very good.
