Just started found this to start. Holy shite the CGI and what I assume is MoCap is so damn smooth. Episode 2: Beyond the Aquila Rift is fricking gorgeous.

If I recall, Netflix shuffles the order for everyone. At least they did in the original run. Crazy series with lots of contrasts in styles between episodes.

I re-watched Lucky 13 and Sonnie's Edge last night. Such great storytelling.

Can't wait for May 14th.

It's very good. Tim Miller and Fincher being involved was a big factor for me, but really I think I stumbled upon it because I read the project started life as a reboot/reimagining of Heavy Metal and then became something else.

I think the Three Robots episode would be an excellent pilot for an entire post apocalyptic series.

How does this show compare to something like Black Mirror? Seems like some of the themes are fairly similar from what I've read (which isn't much admittedly). But this is one that I've been curious about for a while.

I guess its somewhat comparable, as it often deals with questions surrounding futuristic technology. Its fantastic IMO.

You should definitely check it out, as S2 drops soon.

I may have to do that. How many episodes are in S1, and how long are they on average?

From what I remember, it's apples and oranges really.

Black Mirror used similar themes and technology to tell a variety of different types of stories.

LDR was all over the fricking place with only a few episodes that even remotely linked together. The only common theme was man vs robot, for the most part.

Short.

Less than 15 min each iirc.

The ghost fish episode is one I have often thought about before and I’m glad somebody else wonders about this stuff. We have heard of ghost horses from the Civil War with their riders , so it made sense animals ( if you believe the stuff ) can also be ghost. So why not ancient life? Caveman? Why not dinosaurs?

I wouldn't go that far. You had Robot vs cat, man versus demon, man-operated mechs versus aliens, etc.

It is an animated anthology show, similar in tone to the film Heavy Metal, of which it is a relatively explicit reimagining.

It's not easy to binge - some you can immediately go forward. Some are relatively intense. But, as far as a time expenditure, yeah, you can watch 2 or 3 like you would a youtube rabbit hole.

How many episodes are there in S1?

And I didn't realize it was animated. But after the recent Transformers reboot and Invincible on Prime Video, I can dig animated shows if done right. Invincible is awesome, for example.

The only thing you will have deal with is the pure anthology format - no interconnection with the other stories - all are done with their own animation style (including at least 1 mixed live action/animated hybrid), directorial style and tone. Some are very light, others are very dark, most have a nice balance of both.

This. Most of them were meh, but there were a few that really stick with you whether it be the laughs or pain.

The pudding taking over Ohio, rise and fall of civilization in the ice box, and the 2 robots discovering the fall of mankind due to cats stick out the most as funny.

I probably butchered those but it’s been a few years.
