Why didn't whidmore leave the sub? He spent all those resources, killed so many people, dedicated his life to getting back and bam. He finally gets back and sits in the sub.

I think Widmore is staying on the sub until the smokey fence is up and running just in case he has to leave in a hurry.

I don't think it has been explained yet. Considering that it was a big deal to move the island to keep Widmore from finding it again, I think they should at least touch upon an explanation.

My guess is he didn't leave the sub because they needed to make light of something/someone locked in the sub. My guess is Aaron.

Wasn't he writing or looking at maps or something on a desk when Sawyer came down? You can't expect him to make evil genius plans on a damn beach. You HAVE to be on a sub or in a lair for shite like that.
