Jacob knew all this was going to happen. He set it up for the Oceanic people to be their to reset the "game" so he wouldn't be dead.

Recall Jacob to Alana "Will you help me?"

Answer, "Yes"

He knew.

Great episode and saves what had been a lackluster season.

Soooo...............I think the guy on the beach (opening scene) was a rival Egyptian God, along with Jacob. He can't kill Jacob, so he possessed Locke's body (or something) to convince Ben to kill Jacob.

Alpert is basically Jacobs servant.

I don't think either of them can kill anyone. that was the point in having to change the rules with ben.

I dont even know what to think.....

Its obviously a game between Jacob and the other....

Jacob knew there was nothing he could do to stop Ben in his decision.

The other guy changed the rules somehow

Er, if he knew it was going to happen that way, didn't he just need to maybe include Ben on a little picnic with Jacob to stop him from turning.

Jacob seemed to place alot of emphasis on choice. It is the battle of Faith versus Reason, Destiny versus Choice, Good versus Evil.

Would Ben choose evil in reason or good in faith. Choice made. Game over, game reset.

Good call.... Like the opening scene

"Why do you keep bringing them here if they keep failing"

Jacob: "You call it failure, I call it progress"
