But Richard knew of Jacob in '54 when Locked approached him at their camp

I'm sticking with my earlier prediction. Horace will make an announcement at the end of an upcoming episode that he is naming his son Jacob

I would put my money on Desmond or Jacob.

Didnt the statue have long hair

It was a quick shot but could have swore he had long hair. That would either be Des/Daniel/Sawyer

Per Lostpedia:

The statue may be that of the egyptian god horace:

LINK

Kinda funny considering horace is the leader of the Dharma initiative in 1974, the same wpisode they show the statue.

The Eye of Horus became an important Egyptian symbol of power. Horus had a man's body and a falcon's head. Horus fought with Seth for the throne of Egypt. In this battle one of his eyes was injured and later it was healed by Hathor. This healing of the eye became a symbol of renewal. Horus united Egypt and bestowed divinity upon the pharaohs who were viewed as incarnations of Horus in life.

Nice tie in. Remember the glass eye found with the bible in one of the stations.

"Eyes are a recurring theme in Lost, from Locke's gash above and below his eye, to the closeups of eyes shown at the opening of episodes. "

The first thing you see in the whole show is Jack's eye.

First thing I thought of on the screenshot is that looks like Kate. Except the cat ears. But then again, her name is KATe.

Its clearly an Egyptian statue.

Also, consider:

Hieroglyphics when the counter flipped over in the Hatch and the glyphs on the Temple.

Richard Alpert => R.A. => Ra.

Boom.
