My problems with this episode:

1. We have believed that finding out about Jacob/MIB's origin would tell us the origin of the Island. So now where does their mother come from? Who is she? I feel like we need another episode just on her. We are exactly where we started.

2. We have been led to believe the Island, the losties deaths, the candidates, etc. etc. had a PURPOSE. It isn't clear that there will be a real, important, world-saving purpose at all now. And I am not sure there will be underlying message either

3. The good/evil thing annoys me now. With good vs. evil we as viewers had something to pull and root for. They sort of stripped that with the making MIB "not so bad". That would be fine and all, but we are really left confused. Maybe MIB "got screwed" and isn't so bad. But no matter what, in the present day, he still murders by the dozens, lies, cheats, and manipulates. Just because he wasn't "so bad" a few hundred years ago, doesn't mean he isn't an evil piece of shite now. I am sure Hitler got fricked over when he was 10 too.

4. Speaking of time, we have thought this Island and its inhabitants were old as shite with the Temple and all. But Jacob's real mom and crew didn't look "caveman old", they looked a few hundred years old at worst. Maybe no older that Richard.

5. No info about the 108 candidates, how they are chosen, or anything? At all?

6. As far as I can tell, Jacob isn't all-knowing..in fact he knows nothing. He knows what Desmond new about the hatch. How is Jacob gonna convince Jack his job is important? And even if he convinces Jack, will he convince us?

I just dont get why everyone expected THIS episode to answer everything.

So we could just have pure plot development and not depend on them sitting around a panel of reporters during the final episode? There's no way they are going to explain the Island's first inhabitants now.

I'm actually starting to wonder if the light in the cave is some type of greed/power/evil and not actually goodness

meh they already said everything wasn't going to be answered... as long as they explain the game a little more I couldn't really care less about the inhabitants

Maybe, but their were hints that MIB was leaning towards bad from the beginning. He was the only one willing to lie, hide things from his mom, etc.

And another thing, the mom insisted that people "were inherently evil...". Who is that bitch to talk? She killed their mom, lied to her kids, and wiped out an entire civilization. Yeah, and they're the bad ones?

well if MIB was evil and she was evil it would make sense... jacob asked her... am I good mother? and when she says yes he then asks her "then why do you love him more than me?"

It is almost like she had some "smokey" in her too. How else would she wipe out all those people by herself?

Random thought...remember Sawyer's book in Season 1..."BAD TWIN?

fair enough I suppose...my biggest question going into the episode was who/what Jacob and MIB are...that was answered in a satisfactory manner so I'll let it play out from here.

No it wasn't, since it didn't explain why it is so important MIB doesn't leave the Island, which is the most important question right now next to the sideflashes.

I was more concerned about their origin. I'm sure we'll find out about why he can't leave...if not then i'll act like a pissy little girl like you are presently doing after the finale.

I'm glad I only wasted 2 months watching this show instead of 6 years. I would be extremely pissed off after watching this episode and realizing the last episodes will probably be similar. These guys startd making up too much shite when they were writing and are now "lost" on how to end this show. I have a bad feeling all of the hardcore Lost fans are going to get fricked worse than the Sopranos fans.

the frick?

Lost has always been about the ride and the characters to me. It seems like a lot of people are really butt hurt about this particular episode because they were really expecting it to be this preconceived treasure trove of information. I wonder how many people will be on here after the finale that were bitching tonight with posts such as "GREATEST-SHOW-EVER" and the like. There is a a reason there is still 3 and half hours left AFTER this episode.

Its a pretty huge mystery, to where this is going to be the thing I will probably bitch most about not being answered in the final episode.

would make some sense that whatever she was, she could judge the personalities of the two.

Man this is gonna be like the end of Battlestar Galactica times a billion.

While I found tonight's episode disappointing, I still expect the last two be crazy fun.

Anyone else get a "forbidden fruit" vibe from the light cave? How mom said don't ever go in there to the light. Of course, (the real) Eve chose to eat the apple, instead of being thrown head first into the apple tree.

Maybe Mother is actually Adam (created first) and mib is Eve (released the smoke by partaking in the forbidden fruit--the light)

People have been telling you for years that you weren't going to be satisfied with the end of Lost if you expected an answer to every little question you've had. Heck, the writers have even had the character's mock you and state that you aren't going to get all the answers.

Get over it

HAHA YEAH!! You're awesome! You really get it maaannn. Of course its a great idea for the writers to mock their fans because we expect answers. Why would any rational human ever get upset about something like that?

They're actually answering every little question instead of the big one's stupid. Get over yourself. I was a supporter/defender of the writers until 9:01pm last night.

I expect nothing but more "the light is the heart of the island" type bs answers from here on out.

Haven't had time to read the thread, but did anybody notice the 2001 reference with the game stuck in the sand looking like the monolith?

I'm in the same boat. I'm still holding out hope that there will be some more definitive answers, but I've got a bad feeling.

I think there will be a level of satisfaction regarding the castaways, but as far as the island goes, I don't think there's going to be anything remotely concrete offered.
