quote:completely agree Stu. I thought the writing was horrible for this episode. They just threw some weak arse story together to answer a bunch of questions that they likely never really thought how to answer until now. As I watched it I kept thinking "THIS cannot be what we have been wating for. This cannot be the answers to all of our questions". HUGE letdown.
but missed the spoiler where they said Across the Sea was scripted out on a bev nap in 20min because it was their turn to drop the kids off at soccer practice

yeah i guess my main complaint is getting pulp fiction suitcased on the light.

The thought that MIB absorbed some of the light reminds me of season 1, when the smoke looks Locke in the face and Locke describes it as the heart of the island and how it was beautiful.

Why are so many people so persistent that we know the MIB's name? Why does it matter?

ok i like that too. maybe i just need to go to bed and mentally unpack this episode with the entire run of the show.

So does anyone think that MIB is not his brother, that his brother died that day, but when he put him in that cave, it released the smoke monster and it is using his brothers image, or is it the "spirit" of his brother?

Around 4:00 this afternoon, I posted that I really hoped they didn't try to give us an answer as to who Jacob and MIB were and this episode is exactly why.
There was no way to answer that question without coming off cheesy. Fanboys of this show bitch too much about getting answers to questions that really shouldn't be answered.
We know the island is special, but telling us why its special is going to come off crazy.
We know MIB and Jacob are god-like, but telling us that came to be is going to come off cheesy.
The only really thing that needed to be addressed in this episode is the one thing not addressed. Why were the main characters brought to the island?
This episode would have been 1000 times better if we would have watched the last batch of candidates fail to keep MIB off the island and watch Jacob lose his game. Then at least we'd go into the finale understanding the role the main characters play.
Instead, we're still not sure of why they're there.

Yeah I liked the part about the light being beautiful.
I want to agree with Tuck's post, and I do agree with the idea that things being left open for interpretation is not inherently bad at all but I just can't shake the feeling that the writers are using that as a crutch.
They knew that creating all these mysteries about the island was a brilliant way of maintaining interest in the show and now that they can't answer them, well some things should just be left open to interpretation.
Its been a great show. It was probably a bit too ambitious.

I thought that was pretty obvious.
"He stole my body, my humanity"
"He is evil incarnate"

we know why our losties are there, jacob brings them there.
also i don't think MIB has gotten off the island before. if anything this episode disproves the "game" theory and i guess i;m somewhat disappointed by that.

Count me in the underwhelmed group. Magic potion and shiny rocks. Awesome. They went out of their way to make sure we could all ansewer the "who are Adam and Eve" question (which was trivial at best) but then posed 100 more questions which seem to be more important than ever as to how this whole thing is playing out.
Also I tend to like MIB more after this episode because Jacob is a little momma's boy bitch.
ETA: That episode could have been 10 minutes long and accomplished the same that it did.

i'm still not sure if it's because Desmond quit pressing the buttons or Jacob brought them there, my guess is they are tied together lol
