Technically Shelob is alive during the Second Age and inhabited Mordor before Sauron did. She also has some relation to Galadriel. Wouldn’t be surprised if they brought her in later seasons.

That is incorrect. Shelob is a direct daughter of Ungoliant, and she was in Mordor even before Sauron was there.

That's been my position as well. And, after watching the first two episodes, I can say that seeing black hobbits, dwarves, and elves does somewhat disrupt my normal viewing of the show and makes it harder to stay fully immersed in that world.
But real Tolkien fans expecting fidelity to canon are going to have much bigger problems with the show than just with the multi-racial cast or with Galadriel as a military captain. There's a lot of the First Age that gets simplified and altered to fit this the story that this show is going to tell

Others say it does & i agree. When you fundamentally alter the established canon, you damage the legacy. When Tolkien says hobbits weren’t around or of any significance until the third age, but Amazon inserts them (AND Gandalf ) 100’s & 1000’s of years out of their timeline, that’s not opinion.

I ll never see this show because generic sword & sorcery under the false pretense of Tolkien’s work is of zero interest to me.
I’ve been holding back on my main criticism for exactly this reason. Bigger than race swapped characters is the utter disregard for Tolkien’s rich history of middle earth.
This show ignores it utterly.
Tar-Miriel was never a ruling Queen of Numenor. There were 3 in its history, she wasn’t one of them.

Again, people want to reject the argument that’s happening and substitute their own version.
There is a difference between “I wish They would have made a more accurate version of the world” and “they have ruined the books and are trying to destroy Tolkien’s legacy”
Those are very different reactions.the latter makes me think it’s a more than just a pedantic adherence to detail.
