What percentage of people know that Tolkien was writing Celtic myths when they first read the hobbit and LOTR trilogy?

No you want to ignore the works for the letters and footnotes that surround them. You don’t want to actually talk about the works themselves which can stand on their own just fine without outside context.
You don’t need to know what Tolkien was saying to enjoy them. You don’t need to read them as some great English mythology to enjoy them.
It’s compelling plots with epic themes and a fun tone.

There don't. That's the point. For the 57th time this thread, Tolkien WROTE PEOPLE AS HE MEANT TO! You trying to interject irrelevant and arbitrary rules changes nothing.
There is no case to be made for POC SEEING themselves in this story. They're free to see themselves however, but the characters are as they were meant to be. That's just how it is.
