that LOTR was very much a liberal, hippie thing in the late 60's and early 70's.
They hijacked Tolkien's message much like the woke are trying to do now.
Because Tolkien wasn't thrilled with the industrial age, and 'modernizing', because of the fighting he saw - first hand - in WW1.
The smoking of 'leaf' might have been just tobacco, but it's a bit open to interpretation.

When did you know it was racist?

Is this coming out Thursday like Amazon says, or will it actually come out the day before on Wednesday at 7PM like every other Amazon original?

Tolkien's message
Tolkien's own words, in the Forward to the 2nd Edition:
quote:
As for any inner meaning or 'message', it has in the intention of the author none. It is neither allegorical nor topical.

Not really. Both groups are filthy, America hating shitbirds.

Nice cherry picked line.
He was talking about 'current day events', which are always changing.
Tolkien favored the farmlands and nature. That's not allegory. England has a long farming tradition, as does Australia. It's part of their culture, and Tolkien wanted that preserved. It's no deep hidden secret.

Hippies can be genuinely curious though. Libertarians like me get along with actual hippies even if they see me as being the man. Antifa just suck and are violent.

The wing of domestic terrorists and insurrectionists sort of lost any remaining “we stand for America” high ground around Jan 6th 2021

Yes, but in select theatres. I think the first 2 episodes, shown back-to-back, in movie form.
Tickets are free, to those who get them first.

Jan 6 was far more justified than the summer of love. Hands down.
But the real insurrection in D.C. was May 29th.
Now take that to the Political board.

As Trump won the election, the violent overthrow was done on election night.
Nazis are fascists. Why does the Left insist on projecting their own actions onto others?
Nothing Trump did was remotely fascist. Not even remotely.

Fascists do often make up heroic narratives to justify their tyranny.
A reminder, Hitler justified his attempted coup because Germany was supposedly being secretly controlled by the Jews, social deviants, and communists, and only by force could he return the country to the path of rightful greatness.

That's not a "message." Yes, LOTR demonstrates Tolkien's dislike of modern machinery, and the idealization of the Shire represents Tolkien's love for "good tilled earth" and a pastoral life.
But that's not "the message" of LOTR. Reducing it to that is to diminish it as a work of art.
I could just as well point out the Christianity in the book. Did you know that the Fellowship sets out from Rivendell on December 25th and Sauron falls on March 25th, which is the traditional date of Easter? So, the great quest of LOTR can be mirrored to the life of Jesus Christ, as it is what happens between Christmas Day and Easter -- the birth and death of Christ. And we can then explore how, in that quest, Gandalf, Frodo, and Aragorn all exhibit certain characteristics of Christ.
Does that mean that "the message" of LOTR is the reader must become a Christian? Not at all. It's simply a opening into Tolkien's own beliefs and views, which can aid us in understanding the story.
Again, Tolkien was extremely clear that LOTR does not have a "message." Tolkien goes out of his way to refute the idea that LOTR was a war allegory, and Sauron was Hitler.

I get that you're trying to obliterate this thread. I can see why. You're as wrong about this show as you are about politics.
Unbelievably and absurdly way off base.

Lol. Are you really this much of a retard? Who do you believe are Nazis and fascists? Be specific.

Please, explain to the audience what is the difference between a narrative and a characterization?
