The hit 1990s TV comedy series "Frasier," starring Kelsey Grammer as a snobbish radio advice-show host, is coming back to television.
Grammer said on Wednesday he would reprise his role in the revival that will focus on "the next chapter in the continuing journey of Dr. Frasier Crane."
No further details were given.
"Frasier," a spin-off from the TV series "Cheers," was one of the most successful shows of the 1990s, winning five Emmy Awards for best comedy series.
It told the stories of Frasier Crane, who returns to his Seattle hometown to care for his elderly father, and his pretentious psychiatrist brother, Niles Crane.

Let me guess, it's going to be on Paramount Plus.

Frederick is QAnon.
Niles and Daphne's kid is gender fluid.
Roz is still hot.

Wouldn't it more likely be on Peacock?

This will be dreadful, and that's from a huge frasier fan. The series ended wonderfully with frasier getting off the plane in a new city ready for a new adventure, daphne and niles having a kid, martin getting married, and roz getting promoted. It wraps up in a nice feel good now with nothing left to be resolved.
The only reason I can think to bring this back 17 years later is a cash grab. It will literally be impossible to recapture the mood and the essence of the original run, and do viewers really care what an elderly frasier is up to in chicago?

My bet is financial also. Kelsey Grammar has recently shown up on daytime Medicare type commercials playing the sincere guy who only wants my best interest.

It was a Paramount/Viacom production, even back in the 90s. You would always see the logo at the end of each episode.
(This was back before Viacom owned CBS. If they had owned CBS in 1982, Cheers and Frasier would have appeared on CBS instead of NBC.)

Not to mention one of the sexiest voices in TV.

Miles, Daphne, & Roz are not returning from what I saw today...

He's going to get run out of Kansas, CA, over stuff he did at LSU. The #Woke crowd...
Oh wait, NILES.
Sorry.
Literally zero reason to do this without Niles/DHP. In fact, a Niles spin-off would make more sense than a Frasier revival - and, full disclosure, Frasier was probably my favorite television character for almost 20 years (maybe a close 2nd to Phil Hartman's Bill McNeal when NewsRadio came on).

No Niles? What is the point then.

I’m a huge Frasier fan, but I will not watch this. There is no way that TV executives will do anything but ruin this. It’s just not going to be possible to produce a quality comedy on network TV any longer until producers care more about the millions in the audience than the dozens on social media who are offended by a conservative like Kelsey Grammar doing so much as existing.

You got me good. I have no idea why I typed Miles.
No Niles & Daphne
I think it is a publicity stunt. Why bother W/O them?

I have to be one of the biggest Frasier fans on this board, and you couldn't pay me to watch this.
There is no Frasier without John Mahoney.

The easy out is to have a back story where Freddy ends up being a normal blue collar guy and the roles are reversed with Frasier in his dad’s former position.
If they had any balls, they’d have Frasier back in Seattle and set it last year. Have them act like nothing has really changed in their lives.
Just have Frasier and Niles react to everything that happened in Seattle last year. Coffee shop destroyed, extra PC crowd listening to his radio show.
And most importantly, they would want to be seen in society as understanding and supporting the movement, but we know inwardly they wouldn’t like their lives being interrupted by the rioters/masses at all.
Their characters are made for reacting to the last year in Seattle. Make Freddy a blue collar Trump guy. Frasier and Niles would have to be annoyed from both sides.
