Appears he had cancer. This really sucks. He was my favorite on Curb.

I remember watching Super Dave on some show on Showtime in the early 80s. I don't remember it being very funny but I still liked it.

It started in the early 70's but hit big on John Byner's shows on Showtime in the late 70's/early 80's.

And it was hilarious but showed about 1/100th of Einstein's talent.

If you ever get to see Albert Brooks' (Einstein's brother) Modern Romance, Einstein has one of the best scenes in the movie.

He's also great on Seinfeld's coffee/cars show.

His bits on the Smothers Brothers show in the 60's were top notch.

John Byner had a show called Bizarre that I liked but I remember Super Dave having his own show, or maybe just a special or something like that. He was good on Norm Macdonald's youtube show too.

His episode on Norm Macdonald's podcast is one of the funniest things Ive ever heard in my life.

ETA: I still repeat this Funkhouse quote to this day: "No one cares what you subscribe to, okay? We were trying to recreate what happened 25 years ago, and I said "Larry, would you like to make a toast?" And someone said, "Larry went home to take a shite."

He gives an honest interview. His dad was a fairly big comedian (who died on stage at a Friar's Roast of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz). Einstein watched at his dad's funeral as the actors and comedians who never gave a shite about his dad acted like they were his best friends. It made him hate show business (which showed through in his gruff, deadpan characters).

By the way, when his dad died on stage, the audience thought it was an act and laughed when Milton Berle called out for a doctor.

He was on John Byner's TV show, then on Bizarre with John Byner, then Showtime started having Super Dave specials.

Sad news. Martin Norton Funkhouser was amazing an character.

I still laugh thinking of him walking up the stairs "Guess who is getting a divorce? MARTIN NORTON FUNKHOUSER!" and Jeff gets pissed. Hahah
