And the final scene.

I'm doing a little channel surfing and come across the last few minutes of Rambo first blood on AMC. Watching that final scene reminds me of what an incredible actor Sylvester Stallone really could've been.

If you haven't watched the final scene of Rambo in a long time, consider reacquainting yourself with it and if you've never seen it before, consider watching it. It's fairly compelling.

Could’ve been?

He was nominated for an Oscar in the last five years and won the Golden Globe. His career has been amazing.

He want gonna be DDL or Hanks emoting like he does. He only fits certain kinds of roles

He should have won an Oscar for Creed.

I mean he is a top 3 action movie star of all time. He did pretty well for himself.

Well yeah he did great financially and he made some gargantuan movies. What i mean to say though is that he could've been so much better as a dramatic actor. He has more range than he gets credit for, i think.

See that's what i'm talking about. When we think great american actors, we don't think Sylvester Stallone and that's really too bad. He had alot of unrealized potential as a skilled dramatic actor.

Yeah that's true but i'm not talking about action roles though.

What do you mean "could've been "? I don't like when someone posts a thread entitled "Let's talk about Rambo", and then proceeds to not really talk about Rambo.

Now don't push it, don't push it..I'll give you a war you won't believe

He didn't take a lot of dramatic roles. He is pretty good in some of the Rocky movies and Copland is ok but that's about it. He mostly chose to do action that don't require a lot of acting skill.

But i did talk about rambo...The final scene. Now if you wanna talk about moar rambo, we can do that but the line you quoted wasn't very good.

And what i mean by "could've been" is that in my opinion, he had alot of wasted/untapped potential as a great dramatic actor. There are certain scenes in rambo first blood and rocky that really illustrate this.

That's true, he didn't. I just think he had some moments that flashed some real untapped potential.

The final scene in rambo for instance, although dated is very well done.

I thought he was real good in the movie Nighthawks, but that movie just doesn't get a lot of credit.

He was pretty damn good in rocky and Rocky 2. I think he realized early on he was better at playing the bad arse than a dramatic type role. He also seems the type that cares more about making “fun” movies than anything serious.

Outside of the Rocky series anyway.
