Why are Ali and her girlfriends practicing cheerleading for a soccer team?
(They must have went with soccer because the Jr. High they filmed it at didn't have a football field.)

Add drug dealer to the list of negatives against Myagi. He supplied the residents of the crappy apartment complex that he maintained with the ganja.

The Karate Kid
It's not The Karate Kid, it's just Karate Kid. The Karate Kid is that lame arse remake with Jackie Chan.
EDIT: I am humbly mistaken. Apparently that steaming pile of crap was named The Karate Kid like the original. In my defense I always see the 1984 one listed as just Karate Kid.

The All-Valley tournament was in December 19...Daniel just gets his license before the tournament on his 16th birthday.
California driver's licenses are like 18 years old, but 17 for a restricted license. now, i dont know how it was back in 1983/84, but that would be a huge help

Ya'll are overanalyzing the driver's liscense issue. No law states that you have to get your liscense as soon as you reach the legal age. Daniel and his mom obviously could not afford another car, so what point would it be for Daniel to have a liscense? Maybe his mom told him, wait until you turn 17 before you get your liscense.

On his birthday, miyagi specifically asks if he got driva license. It's pretty much a given that he got it because he was now of proper age

no clue how anyone thinks DL is 15-16...he was obviously a senior in high school...just because Cocomo freezed it at 15 candles doesn't mean that's what they were going going for

Well then, have we researched the California state law from 1984?
Come on now, Mr. Myagi meant more than anything in the world to Daniel. I'm sure that Daniel, who was excited about his liscense, had told previously told the owner of Myagi-Do Karate what he would be doing that day.

I grew up in California in the 80's/90's and got my license. Everyone gets their license on their 16th birthday...it's a rite of passage. The movie is telling you he is 16. 15 is learner's permit.

Later, at the country club, Ali is dancing with her dad, and her mom (who is dancing with John) cuts in. Now, at that point, she could've refused a dance with John. But instead, she does it anyway and acts like she isn't enjoying it. Also, as Daniel watches from the kitchen, John leans in to kiss her and she gets all mad. I understand getting mad about the kiss, but why dance face to face with John in the first place?
Further on this point, Johnny is trying to call a truce, and she gets pissy and say, "well...I'm not at war."
I think that is about the only time I feel like Johnny was almost not a complete arse next to the end where he tells Danielson he is alright.

Okay, so I caught some of KK and KK2 a couple weeks ago, and noticed a few more things.
To further this point from post 2:
At the All Valley Tournament in KK1, Ali specifically tells Danyasan that "Everything above the waist is a point. Hits to the head, sternum, kidneys, and ribs."
So that's further evidence that John's punch to the face should've been a point.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________
Fastforward to the end fight in KK2. We see Chozen slide down the lights to the center island stage, and challenge Daniel to a fight to the death. But let's backtrack a little bit for a minute...
Question: What is KK2 all about ultimately? Answer: honor. Sato has held a grudge against Myagi for DECADES for pimping on his ole lady and then fleeing the country with her when Sato challenged him to a fight to the death. His honor was sullied, and he wanted revenge.
Danyasan fricks over Chozen's honor in the market when he busts his arse for using the fake weights (I'm still not sure how that helps him though, as previously discussed
). Again, honor. Chozen's was sullied, and he wants revenge (and also for his uncle).
Now back to the end fight, Chozen challenges Danyasan to a fight to the death. And why? Well let's let him tell it: Honor.
Chozen: "Your student disgrace me. I have been dishonored all because of him."
Pussysan: "Well whatever happened, I apologize.."
"Apology will not give me back my HONOR."
"Well neither will this.."
"In their eyes it will. No more talk. You cross bridge, or I kill her."
So see? It's all about honor.
So they fight and Danyasan gets his arse kicked, as usual, until the crowd unfairly distracts Chozen from performing God's work and finally ridding the world of Daniel fricking Larusso, and Daniel manages to win by employing the "I'll use both my hands" strategy. And in the end, in a FIGHT TO THE frickING DEATH FOR HONOR, in which Chozen choozes (
) death...what does Danya do?
This bullshite.
So not only did you not kill him, but you didn't fight with honor. And on top of that, you embarrassed him in front of literally the entire village. So now Chozen is still alive, and not only didn't get his revenge like he wanted to, but now his dishonor level is at an all-time high. So he's gonna want revenge even MORE. Good call Daniel, you faggy bitch. And hopefully next time he catches up to you, Mr. Myagi and his fellow villagers won't be around to distract Chozen so you can beat him.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________
Also, another point on the final fight in KK2. In the first movie, Danyasan seems Myagi doing the crane kick on the pier poles, and asks him about it. Myagi tells him it's the crane technique, and that "If do right, no can defend."
Yet what happens as soon as Danyasan whips that bad boy out (complete with Myagi had nod and all) against Chozen? He blocks it with ease and proceeds to kick his arse.
So was Myagi lying to Danyasan about it being undefendable, or did Danyasan frick it up that time or what? Weird. Seems like it would've been a decent idea to be like "Hey, Danyasan...when Myagi say to you other day crane kick no can defend, he not serious. Not only can it be defended, but it's not a particularly effective offensive strategy at all anyway. So try something else in your deathmatch fight with the best karate student Okinawa has ever seen. Also, here's a knife you can use since he already seems to have one and is pretty proficient in wielding it."
To further this point from post 2:
quote:
A punch to the face is illegal but a kick isn’t? What kind of bullshite rule is that? In the final fight, Daniel scores the first two points. Then Johnny scores the next two. Then, John gets a clean punch to the face of Daniel, but that's not a point. Keep in mind that a punch to the back of the head is a point, as evidenced by Daniel's Second point scored...so punches to the head ARE allowed. Also, immediately after John scores his second point, we see Daniel attempting to punch John in the face...here it is from multiple angles:
So either Daniel was intentionally trying to punch him to be a dick (if it is against the rules), or John was fricked by not getting a point for punching Daniel in the face. It can't be both.
At the All Valley Tournament in KK1, Ali specifically tells Danyasan that "Everything above the waist is a point. Hits to the head, sternum, kidneys, and ribs."
So that's further evidence that John's punch to the face should've been a point.

Chozen's only real option at that point was suicide. The Japanese people love killing themselves over minor things and this humiliation in front of everyone was major. He probably committed seppuku after the fight.
The crane kick only worked on Johnny because he was unfamiliar with that technique. Danielsan held that stance for a good 10 seconds while the ref was starting the next round. Anyone who knew that pose could see what was coming. Kreese was teaching them American shotokan while Danielsan was learning actual Japanese karate. Chozen was obviously familiar with the technique since he learned the Japanese style as well. Daniel sucked at karate. There was no way he was doing that move right.

I contemplated suicide for him, but he doesn't exactly seem like the quitting type.

Clearly I can buy that Danyasan did it wrong, because he fricking sucks at everything. But I'm still confused as to why Myagi would steer him wrongly by telling him it was impossible to defend if performed correctly. And Myagi obviously had enough faith in him to pull it off because we got yet another head nod from him when Daniel tried to employ it at the Obon festival.
