I just have no interest in seeing this movie. It also doesn't help that the main love interest of Leo's (Lily Gladstone) is about as attractive as an aged potato.

Since they're giving away the ending in the damned trailer... Her being attractive would work against the plot of the story.

Scorcese gonna make this more violent than it needs to be.
Plus white man bad, everyone else is the victim.
Another let's paint history into the way hollywood wants to see it since it is based on a true story, not that any outcome would have been different in history as the country developed over time - good or bad or indifferent!

hey man, maybe white people murdering native americans including their wives to take their oil can just be portrayed as bad.

i think the spread of judeo christianity and democracy from white Europeans is the best thing to happen to the world in in the last millennia for every facet of life in the world.

a couple of white dudes killed a bunch of Ossage native americans for oil money. then a bunch of white dudes showed up and figured out it was the other white dudes.

it's a good story and i'm not an SJW when it comes to native americans. most of them were terrible people and i'm glad we won the indian wars. don't agree with the treatment afterwards though.

Have you read the book? The true story is very violent, and grisly.

Well to be fair, this was pretty much the case for this story...

The book this is based upon is a well-researched, well-documented book. This isn't just some "well we're twisting this to fit a narrative" bit. This is real, violent discrimination against the Osage.

And yes, it was violent. There's some pretty fricking appalling violence to be honest.

You can tell who hasn't read the book.

A lot of folks are talking about Leo's potential performance, but Robert De Niro as Hale is going to be absolutely wild I think.

Orrrr, it could be portrayed as the righteous and courageous victory over the bloodthirsty savages.

But I’ll be watching for sure. Scorcese directing Deniro and DiCaprio? I’m in.

I have no clue about this story. But your Osage were notoriously vicious murderers and pillagers to the other tribes around them in Arkansas.

The Caddo and the Quapaw hated them.

I don’t see where any of that justifies what happened to them decades later when they were settled on a reservation in Oklahoma. But you do you.

This would be a profoundly stupid portrayal of what happens in this story.

this takes place 50 years after the end of the Indian Wars. The Osage bought their own land and settled on it as a reservation. including mineral rights. they found oil which they had a right to by every moral and legal metric.

white people moved there, married some of them and 2 in particular started killing off extended family members so they had a larger cut of the oil money.

there is no woke here. there is no rewriting history. there is no "noble savage." there is no white man bad.

this is literally what historically happened.

i'm as against all that as humanly possible but there's no "there" there.

It's going to be longer than it needs to be w/ some questionable directing decisions made by a legend who is past his prime (see The Irishman), but still good not great.
