1) Go to the movie during a time that would have less people that are prone to text at it.
Agreed. I do that naturally. I NEVER go to a movie on a Friday or Saturday night. Never.

Don' sit in the back of the theater. Those are the worst seats possible.
Absolutely correct.

Go to a movie where people won't text at.
Excusing the "at", I agree. But I'm not that interested in most of the summer blockbusers, etc, so it's easy for me.

Ask them not to text or tell management. You kindly ask them to stop texting to follow the theaters standards of courteousness towards the other attendees.
Absolutely. I'll do this with assholes who talk or do anything to distract the audience. My wife thinks I will one day be killed in a theater.
Finally, the finest home entertainment center (well, except for those of you who can afford a true screening room and invite friends over) cannot compare with the experience in the theater. I really like Canal Place, fwiw. I sit toward the front and the food and drink service isn't a bother.

There were at least five people texting on phones during the movie. Nobody is that important and they really piss me off. Just gonna wait for pay per view or DVD. Assholes have ruined the theatres!
I stopped going years ago and that a drastic measure for me because I'm a real movie lover. (Too much talking, texting, baby crying, ridiculous ticket prices, etc) I have a bad temper and zero tolerance for inconsiderate jerks in a theater. Not worth the hassle and annoyance of having to put up with all these little POS for two hours, so I either wait for the DVD or go to an afternoon matinee if it's something I really want to see on a big screen.

I usually try to pick times when there aren't going to be a lot of assholes, Sun. at noon vs. Fri. night at 9:00.
this. we don't go to the movies on Thur, Fri, or Saturday night because there are too many teenagers and inconsiderate people. any other weekday night or the first showing on Saturday or Sunday morning is usually fine..never had a problem at those times.

I don't text during movies. If somebody text me, I'll pull my phone out, cover the screen and check it. But out of curtesy I don't take it out and respond. With that being said, if someone in a row or two in front of me starts texting, I glance at him briefly, then *GASP* go back to watching my freaking movie! I'm sorry it's not that hard to pay attention to a movie even while some goob is sexting. If he keeps doing it, lean in and tell him to put his friggin phone up or kick the back of his seat hard so he turns around and looks at you and you give him the "I'm gonna cut your nuts off and feed em to you you little bastard" look. Both are things I've had to do and take maybe 15 seconds away from my movie experience.

Babies in R-Rated theaters are the worst.
I saw Horrible Bosses a few weeks ago, and a baby was screaming 80% of the time. It was awful.

I agree. Cellphones and teenagers are the worst.
I've also noticed a new trend of people openly hollering and cheering at movies like they are at some sort of sporting event.
I haven't been to a single movie in all of 2011.

I like to go to the movies wearing a clown suit. When someone starts texting I just get up and go stand horizontal to them in the isle. I just stand still and stare at them. Pre teens to adults, it don't matter. They always stop texting and sometimes leave the theatre completely. And nobody ever sits next to me so that's nice
If somehow that doesn't work, just go full on Homey the Clown on them with beat down sock. Should do the trick
