Theon, Sansa and I guess Jorah and the Hound were the only characters in the entire show that had good endings. Jon turned into a mopey bitch, Dany went from seasons of helping the innocent to a mass murderer in an episode, Jamie had one of the best arcs in the show and then reverted to season 1 Jamie, Tyrion and Varys turned into idiots, Cersei got off extremely easy compared to other villains, Arya killing the NK made no sense and there was no payoff, and nobody likes Bran the Boring. Just horrible what happened to these once great characters.

I always say that with the passage of time GOT will be viewed much better than initially when it ended. The reason being is that it's MUCH more tolerable when you binge it as opposed to waiting week to week/year to year as it aired.
And while there were exceptionally stupid things about S7 and S8, there were also some really good episodes, scenes, moments, etc. as well (the Hound/Mountain fight is one example).
It's amazing how all they had to do was make little tweaks that could've saved large portions of the shows and the characters. For example, have Jaime kill Cersei when he catches up to her, and then have him revert back to "old Jaime" as she lays there dying. That would've shown that his love is still there even though he knows she's a monster, and then the building comes crashing down on them. But Jaime was the most egregious thing on the show IMO. He had SUCH an amazing journey/arc, only to revert back to stupidity in the end. Even with Dany, she was someone that most people didn't give a shite about after about S3, and her character was boring as frick for the most part...so her pulling a 180 was super stupid, but at least nobody liked her anyway. Jaime was a travesty.

Let’s be clear, Bran being king isn’t just bad because no one wants Bran to be king, it’s bad because the show spent painstaking effort and time to show him running around becoming the raven, and talking about not giving a shite about all the people politics, because he knew like everyone knew, the real threat is north of the wall.
And I'd be ok with Arya being the one to kill the Night King, because she was a badass killing machine, BUT...
They made the Night King be the one Big Bad in the entire series. From the very first, there was this existential threat from the north...the White Walkers and the Night King. I can sort of look past the crap with Dany and with Bran being King. I cannot look past the Night King being killed so easily. IMHO, his defeat should have required the banding together of all the houses, including Jaime. The whole series, Jamie was finding redemption. He came to understand that the Night King was The Threat. But in the end he forgets about that for Cersei. I don't buy it at all. Jaime should have been right there with all the greatest warriors from all the houses. That should have been the final battle in the last episode. That's what ruined it for me. The Night King died far too easily.

I've always felt, as others have, that the NK should have ended up being a version of Bran. That Bran, in hubris, dreams back to pivotal events of the past to prevent current events but ends up causing them (such as causing the Mad King to lose his mind). He goes back so far as to be the First Man who the children turn into the NK. So, basically, this version of Bran waits through the centuries to exact revenge on himself. Would have made a good villain origin story.

You may have not liked her but to say she didn’t have an extremely large fanbase is kind of ridiculous. Jon may have been the only one tha topped her in fans

Dany basically does the same 3 season arc twice to burn time all to undercut every piece of her development in the finale episode bc D&D wanted a shocking ending more than a good one
Even for the crew that was rooting for Dany to turn at the end, At the very least it should piss you off how many long winded time filler speeches we had to listen to her about her NOT being like the other targs and how she was on a mission to bring peace to the world and all that jazz. That’s something they should’ve always highlighted the possibility of or made it less clear of Dani’s intention/stability. Instead they just made her really dumb and irrational the final two seasons to make the audience hate her enough to give them an excuse for a heel turn.

Oh I am 100% in agreement with you, Dany literally went from ready to sacrifice her life for all of Westeros to burn it all down and kill everyone in three episodes. On top of that she had already won the war, all she had to do was march on in and drag Cersi out her tower and she could have barbecued her arse

Nobody can ever convince me they shouldn't have sacked Winterfell then headed south
There never should have been a Siege of Winterfell. When you look at the geography around the city it is clear to any person with a small grasp of military tactics and strategy that it is indefensible against an army the size of the Night King's. If season four logic had been applied to season eight, the Night King would have swept over Winterfell without breaking a sweat. Remember how close the Wildlings under Mance Rayder came to taking the Wall from the Night's Watch at the end of season four? And that was an infinitely better defensive position than anything Winterfell had to offer.

I don't mean she had no fans. More just that by the time her story got somewhere, most people didn't really give a shite about her much anymore. The whole "will she ever cross the fricking ocean" bullshite got old and tiresome.
She was one of the best characters in the first season or two, and then she just went downhill with the whole rinse/repeat storylines to the point where I just didn't care anymore (and that seemed to be a common sentiment in the discussion threads on here as well).

You're forgetting about Olenna Tyrell. She had the best ending of any character on the show, imo. I wish the Tyrells' story ended differently. I liked them. In the books there a 2 other siblings in addition to Margaery and Loras, Willas and Garlan. I'm most curious to see what happens to that family, especially Olenna.
