I mean, Killing Joke is just a what if basically right? I’ll look at this the same way. His origin could be taken in a dozen different directions and any of them could be true.

It seems like joaquin phoenix's performance is going a long way, despite an imperfect movie. I'm going to say at worst this will be in the low 70s. But a lot of the good reviews are raving about it, so it may be a polarizing movie.

I don’t disagree with you. But I also don’t think this film has a clear message and is in the end could be seen as glorifying the character. I think it’s a lot more problematic than 99.9999999% of films.
