This is gonna be weird. The dude will always be dorky Jim Halpert. Seems like a miscast to me.

Jim is actually a pretty good call.
Chris Pine is better than John Kransinski.
Kransinski isn't terrible, though. He was ok in the Benghazi movie.

Kransinski impressed me in 13 hours. Didn't know he could do action so well. I think he will be fine as Jack Ryan. He plays a sort of nerd action guy in this role.

Jack Ryan isn't really an action guy. His character is a former marine, turned stock broker, turned history teacher, turned CIA analyst.
He was always written as someone who could handle himself if need be, but action wasn't his strong suit. That role is for John Clarke.

The character of Jack Ryan is not supposed to be a brooding sex symbolish arse kicker.
The true Jack Ryan character is supposed to be an intellectual man of great integrity who is capable of an occasional moment of asskicking when protecting his family or country.
Jack Ryan jr, is the hottempered, intellectual, attractive, asskicker in the vein of a modern day James Bond
Krasinsky is a great choice to fill the role as Jack Ryan
