Jeff Goldblum is so underappreciated. He carries every scene he is in with his quirkiness.

I was re-watching Jurassic Park and this thought dawned on me:
He has almost ALL the iconic lines and He steals every scene he is in
Then I starting realizing he had a similar impact in Independence Day and stood toe to toe with Will Smith back when Will Smith was actually Will Smith.
He steals every scene in these movies:
The Life Aquatic
Thor: Ragnarok
GOTG 2
The Fly
Earth Girls are Easy
Silverado
To Jeff Goldblum

Then I starting realizing he had a similar impact in Independence Day and stood toe to toe with Will Smith back when Will Smith was actually Will Smith.

Outside of his supporting roles in some Wes Anderson movies, his filmography looks completely irrelevant since 1997.

I disagree. Every role is just Jeff Goldblum playing the same character (himself, basically) complete with the same timing and same mannerisms.

At most, he's a bit player in "Silverado" and hardly stole any scenes in it.
His best work in my opinion was the remake of "The Fly", other than that, I think he's just "MEH" at best in most roles.
Like already mentioned, he's Jeff Goldblum in every part he plays. He's certainly no Christian Bale who becomes that character and immerses himself in the role.

I remember enjoying his portrayal of the a-hole in Igby Goes Down, starring a younger Culkin brother. Haven’t seen it a decade or so, so not sure it holds up.
