You mean on a pure voice talent level?

Sara's one of my favorite singers. She's got such a pure voice. She's just OK in this, though. Sporty Spice really sold her performance in the 2012 arena tour in a way I've never seen before, and that made up for her less appealing voice.

Legend stacks up good to Neeley in my opinion, except maybe for the that very high note Neeley had.

Legend has OK moments, but he doesn't try most of the high notes, and he slips into this awful head voice at times. The latter especially reminds me of the Jesus I saw at Swine Palace in 2000 or thereabouts. I'm just not finding anything compelling about this production.

Fair enough. I was excepting to feel the same way. I guess the bottom line to me is it's all about the songs. And this one has them and (to me at least) they are well performed.

Legend let me down tonight. He can’t hit the high notes. Alice cooper was awesome.

This has been decent enough for me but I've also never really been all that into JCS so there is less for me to be bothered with compared to other versions.

I will say that I cannot stand how many quick cuts and camera movement there has been. That's more of an issue w/musicals on TV these days though. :-/ The constant camera cuts in last year's "A Christmas Story" made it unwatchable to me (of course the music being weak sauce didn't help). At least this production has toned that down by comparison.

Mary Magdalene is amazing.
Judas is great.
Pilate is kicking arse.
Herod is entertaining.
Jesus blew his voice out before the show.
Simon and Peter are hanging in there.

I guess they couldn't really show Judas hang himself on broadcast tv.

Cooper actually toned it down from the guy who played Herod in the movie.

Ben Daniels is so good in everything.

I really hope The Exorcist somehow gets a 3rd season.

First, there are only a few of Andrew Lloyd Webber's works that were worth a damn in translating from stage to screen. A of these vocals are not impressive. The crowd's cheering takes away from what is worth a damn, and the commercial breaks sure as hell didn't help.

That guy looked so familiar, but I couldn't place him.

Sheesh, it's not that bad. A couple of the performers have really done well. Solid production all around. Who'd a thunk there'd be commercial breaks on TV?

Wow, Legend kinda sucks at this. His voice and acting aren't up to it.

Agreed, he is the weak point of this production. Everyone else is pretty good.

Alice Cooper did a great job with the Herrod part.

Loved the original though.

I thought it was good but a few vocals were weak. I also enjoyed music from original. As I'm older now, I understand it better.

All I know is the scene of Jesus Legend floating away to heaven was beautifully done.
