mean has anyone actually thought "wow, this joke was really offensive but it made me laugh so I'll let it slide"

I guess I should say that context is key in making an offensive joke funny or not funny. In these screenshots of old tweets we have no context.

So yes, people can look past offensive humor if its funny. But the difference between humor that is offensive and funny and humor that is offensive just for the sake of being offensive has a lot to do with context and intent.

You can thank MAGA twitter for this

You know, the same people that lost their mind when Roseanne lost her job for her tweets

It's so strange to see this compared to pedophilia, as if those are similar.

I don't think anyone is trying to compare pedophilia to racism or homophobia. Seems to me like if you give one of them the benefit of the doubt you should give both of them the benefit of the doubt.

I know they are old tweets but damn how could someone in his position think it was ok/funny to say those things. Same with Roseanne, they have no one to blame but themselves.

You can bet this one hurts Disney. I have a bad feeling about the future of the Marvel movies...

Well Gunn wasn’t in “his position” when he made those tweets. That’s the difference between his situation and Roseanne’s.

Deleting tweets isn’t enough. Only way to really scrub it is to delete your account and hope no one screenshotted anything

Disney had no problem making billions off his work before the tweets. Just make him go to some sensitivity training bullshite.

You can thank James Gunn for this when he decided to become an activist on twitter. Going through shite Ben Shapiro wrote when he was 17, taking it out context, and then trying to label him a racist. James Gunn is a fricking moron for not deleting those tweets the moment he signed on with Disney. And, to be fair, it is funny hearing the same people who were happy about Roseanne being fired getting upset that Gunn was too. Personally, I wasn't offended by any of it, because I'm not some 14-year-old who just found the internet.

Script is written (including music selections). Avengers 4 leads into Spider-Man 2 and Guardians 3 and is in post-production.

From what I understand, Disney was aware of these tweets when they hired him. For that reason, I think it's chicken shite that they can him only after there is faux outrage.

That being said, can we not agree that it's never a good idea to make outrageous and/or controversial remarks on social media?

Obviously one never knows when they will find fame, but regardless, it's just not a good idea to post rape jokes on your Facebook wall.

what kills me is they will fire him over that shite, but still market the hell out of Johnny Depp - who actually physically assaulted his ex Amber Heard, or allowed Lassiter to continue head Pixar despite numerous allegations of misconduct.

were his tweets wrong? sure to some - I recognized them as humor because that is what they were.
