About 100 Honeymooners sketches were done live on his '50s variety show. These would not be seen again until they were released in the mid '80s as "The Lost Honeymooners"
I've seen quite a few of "The Lost Honeymooners" episodes over the years and I didn't find them as funny as the ones that focused mainly in the confines of the Kramden household. Gleason and Carney had a great chemistry as did the rest of the cast.

That song and visual epitomizes the groovy 60s to me. Love it.

His last role as Max Basner in Nothing In Common with Tom Hanks and Eva Marie Saint was fantastic.
LINK because YouTube wouldn't let me imbed it.

I remember catching "How to Commit Marriage" (1969) on television in the mid-1970s, and although only a few years old, it already seemed ridiculously dated. But I actually don't dislike the film. It has some good old-school comedy from pros Gleason and Hope. Certainly preferred it to Hope's next film, "Cancel My Reservation."
"Skidoo" was virtually non-existent on tv, but some cable channel aired it once around the mid-1990s (I think), and I watched it. Whew. Avoided it ever since. Found Groucho's appearance to be pretty cringe-worthy. Often got that feeling when I'd spot an old-timer showing up in some brief bit in some 1970s R-rated schlock, from Harry Ritz to Billy Barty to Huntz Hall. But, they probably needed the paycheck, I'm sure. I guess it's not nearly as bad as showing up in an X-rated film, like Aldo Ray and Lash LaRue did. Although, I always did hear in the latter's case, the skin stuff was added after the fact.

Used to go down to Gleason's Pro-Am golf tournament at Inverrary (near Ft Lauderdale).
Back then, tons of celebrities had their own tourney. Kind of a staple of the 70s.

I've often had a weird fascination for those late-period artifacts bucking the hipster cultural waves of the late-60s/early-70s. Red Skelton, Mayberry RFD, The Jimmy Stewart Show, Wild Kingdom, etc.
To quote Frasier,
"Niles, please don't try to be hip. You remind me of Bob Hope when he dresses up as the Fonz."

Love seeing his big arse move around the pool table in the Hustler
He had an understated but intimidating presence in the film.

The Great One shot his own billiard shots in the film as well, iirc.

I loved his interview on 60 Minutes back in 1984 with Morely Safer. He could drink and shot some pool.
