I didn't get this at all.

Yes.

I saw this as Maduro/Guaidó redux. Both leftists, but Reyes the Maduro/Chavez dictator "disappearing" enemies while his country goes to shite and Bonalde being Guaidó (a more acceptable leftist)

The downvoters obviously blacked out during all the scenes with the French intel lady. Cringe worthy at best.

The dude playing the Greer character has his moments as well. Yikes.

liked season 1 but was so confused by drone pilot story line. I wonder if that story will extend that story into this season and make it make sense.

Was that a flashback to Soleimann as a kid? When Jack asked him about the scars on his hands?

Just finished S2. One of the most fun shows I’ve seen in a while. Not the best written or best acted but just a super entertaining 8 hours of television.

I love the actor that played Reyes. I just watched blow last weekend and immediately recognized him. Those evil eyes.

I just finished it, and thought it was pretty good. Not as good as season 1, but still pretty good. I did miss having Cathy around, as Jack and Cathy's relationship (and family) is a constant throughout the books. Jack immediately sleeping with the girl with the dragon tattoo was kind of off-putting. Cathy never even came up, and he didn't even hesitate to frick her, even though it was clear she was following him and he's CIA. I thought it was odd that a US Senator can be assassinated in a foreign country, and the show never presented any evidence that the world was outraged. But the minute US soldiers are proven to be there, suddenly it's international condemnation time. Can you imagine what would happen if a Senator got killed in Venezuela today? I know the show's Venezuela and the real world country are very different (I think they missed an opportunity there), but it would be a pretty big deal.

Can we post spoilers because I have a question.

Spoilers below

I guess it really wasn’t John Clark since who we thought was his character ends up dying this season. What do others think?

I stopped watching here. We spent all that character development time in season one between Jack and Cathy and he fricks some Venezuelan whore in the first 30 mins of season two? Can someone come in here and reassure me that it gets better? Because between the infidelity and the gross mischaracterization of “nationalist” versus the “socialist” situation in Venezuela, makes it hard for me to continue.

ETA: I mean why did they bother with the whole “I have a moral dilemma with the Turkish sex trafficker” deal and then frick the first piece of pussy he sees outside of his relationship. frick.

I agree. I sure thought he was set up as ********, but his death erases that.

First, she was German.

Second, this is clearly some time since Season 1. Ryan is working in the Hill and Greer is well established in Moscow.

He'll end up with her, but they are clearly setting a different path for him to get there.

We spent a lot of time character developing only to totally shite on a lot of it in the first 30 mins of Episode 1 season 2.

I have enjoyed both seasons and thought this one was better. Could they have developed Jack more at a personal level? Sure. But they did develop his nature as believing in a true right versus wrong and willing to say frick convention and the "easier path" that has always been his character.

Let's be honest, this season had a LOT of elements of (SPOILERS)

Clear and Present Danger, just like last year pulled plot points from Rainbow Six.

They've done a good job in staying pretty true to the character. Remember, by the time of Hunt for Red October, he's over a decade out from Annapolis (73), was married to Cathy and had been an analyst for CIA for some time. Yes, Red Rabbit was supposed to fill in some blanks before HFRO, but there's still a lot we don't know about him.

I like the show a lot. My wife and I watched all 8 episodes between Friday and Sunday which is rare. My wife normally can't binge TV that much so I think that speaks to what we think of the show.

SPOILERS

I was shocked the Bud Light king got killed. I kept expecting him to be alive after all until they dug up his body. All due to me believing him to be Clark. Guess that's not the case which tells me they expect to get the rights to the Clark character next season...or they know they won't and got rid of the character completely. I also thought the show character was a little more flippant and showy than I remember Clark from the books.

John K is a great actor in this genre. I'm blown away by him in this and 13 Hours. I want to see more of him.

One minor complaint that seems to pertain to many projects like this. Why change up big things from the books for the TV show? You use the Jack Ryan name to attract those fans. Then you make big changes to the characters. This would be a great show if it was called Tom Clancy's XXXX.

When you call it Jack Ryan, I get pulled out of it a bit thinking that's not accurate about things. Jack not being married when it's essential to the character. Greer is a field agent and a Muslim (probably thrown in so it's not an "all Muslims are bad" vibe). Jack is apparently a bad arse super soldier and not a smart determined guy who gets by on sheer will and analysis.

It's a minor nitpick for me and not something I want registered as a big complaint. I understand some changes need to be made. In Bosch, Harry is Spec Ops from the Middle East because Vietnam would have been too long ago. At the end of the day, I want to see the characters I know represented the way I know them from the books as close as possible, at least on the big issues.

End of rant...great show that's very entertaining. Good enough my wife watched 8 episodes in 3 evenings, about double what she's normally willing to do. Can't wait for next season and really hope they get the Clark character in.

I loved the show. I don’t think it’s unheard of that he has training. I do understand if it’s a turn off because that is how he was written.

I was confused on the actual problem with the bad guys. So they were drilling and using satellites? What’s the crime?

Just my two cents but if you are wanting there to be a clean timeline character plot throughout this series that follows the other Clancy books it will never happen. Due in part to changing times and events, changes, some major will have to be made so that you get maximum impact.
I think of these stories like James Bond in the movies not really following a consistent time or plot line like Flemming wrote in the books. But it's still damn fun if you don't get bogged down in the minutia.

I get it and it's why it's not a major complaint for me. The Jack Ryan I knew was a guy who was a marine for a few months before a helicopter crash ruined his back. I think that's where he met his wife.

He wasn't a super soldier. Just a guy who is very smart and willing to do the right thing in every situation no matter the cost. At times he got into some shite, but not to the level of storming a presidential palace and taking down dozens of soldiers with one shot head shots on the run.

What I love about the Ryan books is the whole universe of characters that work with Ryan. Sometimes he's the center of the action, many times he's ultimately the planner.

The show is great on it's own so I'm not really complaining. Just a little bit of me wishing more adaptions would be more faithful to the originals.

I thought this originally as well then re-watched the scene. He was sitting in the boat when the enemy squad/force came down the bank toward his position. He seemed concerned they would ambush his team so he left the boat to possibly intercept them.
