It's weird to have so many memories of Smallville and then remember that some of them were involved with a cult (one VERY involved).

BTW, if anyone is still interested in Allison Mack, amid her waiting for sentencing, she was enrolled at UC Berkley and taking classes (although I think she was asked to not "attend" zoom classes in person/on video).

Students Talk About Taking College Classes With NXIVM's Allison Mack
quote:

Sofia said the Dean of Students and other administrators she and her classmates have spoken with pointed to the UC-wide “Beyond the Box” policy—which ensures that potential students do not have to disclose “criminal justice information,” like arrest records, active legal proceedings, or past incarceration, during the application process—as the reason Mack was admitted to UC Berkeley in the first place.

Learning alongside peers who’ve interacted with the criminal justice system is not new for UC Berkeley students. In 2013, a group of students formed the Berkeley Underground Scholars, an organization supporting formerly incarcerated and other “system-impacted” students whose lives had been touched by the criminal justice system—including those who have been “arrested and/or convicted without incarceration,” like Mack. The group’s Berkeley chapter (there are several others on UC campuses across the state) did not respond to multiple requests for comment from VICE.

Wait for it:
quote:

As a student learning after the fact that she was in close proximity with Mack, Sofia now feels the broad brush of the Beyond the Box policy that protected Mack, like any other student with a legal history, put her and her classmates in a vulnerable position. “I think a lot of people agree that if you’ve got a DUI, a past drug charge, or you shoplifted, it shouldn’t disqualify you from the right to an education,” Sofia said. “And I agree with that, too! But that doesn’t account for this very specific, and quite dangerous, situation.”

Don't want this to spin off into politics, but that is a steaming bowl of irony right there.

I know. I didn't want to bring politics up either, but it was funny enough that I wanted to put it out there for everyone.

I can see why they'd do that for DUI, drug arrests, etc. But when you're dealing with cults, or anything involving violence or even theft, you're putting the other students in danger of being hurt or screwed over.

Durrance IS Lois Lane

The best Lois Lane ever and wasn't a cleat chasing whore like the other live action versions of Lois who only chased Superman and shite on Clark.

Smallville's Lois loved Clark Kent and fell in love with him and married him way before she knew about his powers and before he became Superman. It was genuine love.

Not only that, she had the right attitude and personality that Lois historically has in the comics.

Smallville's version of Clark and Lois is the GOAT.

But, even with that, you had some iconic portrayals:

I also enjoyed the heck out of James Marsters as the good version of Brainiac.

Yeah, i can't agree with any of these (maybe Welling)
Gene Hackman acts circles around Rosenbaum he is Lex Luthor.

Durance may be the hottest Lois Lane, but she plays her in HS, Lois Lane is a reporter. Kidder or Hatcher are Lois Lane.

No. Hackman played a mediocre Lex. Rosenbaum is similar in some ways to the animated version of Lex (still the best like Conroy and Hamill) but Rosenbaum brought the villainous complexity like none other.

And Durance played the reporter in the later seasons and crushed it. Kidder sucks and Hatcher was too damsel in distress. Durance actually seemed more like a military brat.

Hackman is the better, more accomplished actor overall, but MR played Lex much better and more in line with his character in the comics. Hackman was a goofball with some evil tendencies. MR's Lex was dangerous and mendacious.

You apparently stopped watching the series halfway through.

You could take the characters, actors, and a good portion of the plot and do a rewrite and actually make a fantastic show. We may remember the great highlights, but the bulk of it was a procedural mess.

You shut your mouth. I've seen every episode half a dozen times over the years and I love them all

no, i watched the whole thing, i forget we have to spell everything out literally. I did not read the more recent comics, so i don't know or really care about those but in the original Superman stories i don't think Clark meet Lois until they worked together at the Daily Planet.

as far as Hackman being maybe more a comedic Lex ok, but i don't see villainous complexity from MR's Lex, i found their falling out. bit forced. Lionel seemed more villainous until they ruined that character. Frankly i think Jesse Einsenberg was a better Lex.

Kidder sucks

she captured the gruff 40's style reporter better than anyone. I don't recall anything great about Durance as reporter tbh, its been i while since i watched it and chronologically she was too young until the end, to be a believable great reporter. which after all was the original point on the series, it was Clark growing up not as full Superman.

For a second my brain didnt work, and I thought Allison Mack played both Chloe Sullivan and Alex Mack from "The Secret World of Alex Mack."

I'm not sure you did because Durance's character never attended high school with Clark in the series. She was Chloe's older cousin who was already in college while Clark and them were seniors in high school.
