I'd go with animated films.

Romcoms!
My only issue with that is the fluid definition. Is 500 Days of Summer a typical Rom Com? Eternal Sunshine? That one can get difficult. But I'd do it if the people wanted it.

I definitely classify those 2 movies as romcoms.

I'd go for:
1960s edition or Top 50 Films from 1960s and Top 50 Films from the 1950s myself.
I'd be hard pressed to make a list of 50 sports movies that are actually good, and as Freauxzen said, most of my top 10 would be baseball flicks.

I could dig on this as well.

I guess nobody wants action movies.

Not me, boxing movies would feature more heavily on mine.

See and I disagree. On both.
Rom Coms are tough.

Thinking it through, yeah Eternal Subshine is not a romantic comedy, but a romantic sci fi film. Still stand by 500 Days of Summer though.

I really do, but two problems:
It's like Rom Coms, where are the limits? Do we classify all kung fu movies as action movies? Is Gladiator an action movie? Braveheart? Avengers? Dawn of the Dead (2004)?
It just isn't contained enough.
Two, it almost crosses with sci-fi too much.

There's movies like Predator and Aliens that could be sci fi or action but I could guess you could put them on both lists. Of course there's all the super hero movies too.

Yeah I just want to finish the decades lists before doing anything else so I can show off my awesome knowledge of classic films lol.

Maybe action adventure would be a better genre. Avengers would count. DotD? Isn't that a Snyder film?

Right now yes.
This will get done eventually. There might be a give and take here. If we do Sports movies, I'd want to balance that out with Foreign. Same for animated.
I'd like to try and satisfy the most people with these. That's a terrible way to go about it, but I'm hard headed so it works.

I like the sports movies idea or combining the 50s and 60s--not 50 each but a top 100 from that 20-year window. I think if we limit the decade to 60s alone, some younger posters may have trouble putting together a full ballot. Opening it up to 2 decades would make for better participation.

I'm not making promises but if we still have sizable interaction and involvement from the board and it's worth it, I'd do two. And if 1960s isn't the first go round, it would be the automatic second.
