Addams Family was definitely more hip.
Plus Carolyn Jones. ??

As a kid I thought Addams Family was cooler, but I actually enjoyed Munsters more, if that makes sense.

I liked both for what they were.
They were different experiences (albeit sharing an extremely similar premise). The Addams Family was a "funny" monster story. The dialogue and interactions seemed more classic (and monster) film riffs on things and was heavily dialogue driven (even the non-dialogue, like Lurch and Cousin It).
The Munsters was part family sitcom, part buddy comedy, but with monsters. Much more traditional family sitcom and buddy comedy tropes.
And the acting was superb in both - for what they were. Remember, these shows were competing with Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, Mayberry, Gilligan's Island, etc.

From the perspective of a kid watching reruns after school, The Munsters were my favorite of the two.
Herman was a funny guy. The facial expressions, his laugh, and of course when he unintentionally scared the hell out of people. Fred Gwynne was a damned good actor.

Y'all remember the Munsters remake in the early 90s?
"WE went to sleep many years ago, now we're woke up with a brand new show. We're the munsters.....Today"
I think it only lasted a few episodes.
.
I think Addams was remade too come to think of it.

That's the thing. Munsters was broader and more kid friendly. Plus it had the Universal monsters to draw you in.
