re: Is the MCU dying? Thor: Love & Thunder tumbles 68% at the box office in its second weekend

That's because it's second weekend fell on Christmas. 68% in the summer is a very bad drop. Thats BvS level bad.
And unlike NWH, Thor has very mixed reviews from audiences.

Oversaturation, how special would James Bond movies be if they came out every two months instead of every two or three years?

And a common strategy for blockbuster releases around that time of year….

And still made $715mill after two weekends and will surpass Ragnarok’s gross.
Yep, “dying” confirmed

Could you point out where I ever said that?

This movie is only performing the way it is because off the success of Ragnarok. If there's another, it won't perform this way. It's not as cut and dry as just looking at the box office numbers in a vacuum
Man the downvoters are a strange bunch.

I’ve been told by sources that they and critics obviously don’t think it’s as good as Ragnarok. That pic, despite having a lower opening than Thor 4 at $122.7M, possessed a higher-grossing second weekend with $57M. And that was during November, not summer.

I think they got too TV show heavy for characters most reallly don't care about.
I mean in order to understand the new DR strange movie, you needed to have watched the TV shows. I have no interest in doing so, so not only was I lost but I became more disinterested.
some of the other movies that had characters that arent known names I just didnt care to watch period.

Get Woke, Go Broke.
Marvel is pushing a bullshite agenda and has forgotten what their core audience wants.

Forget about Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s -68% second drop. That’s largely due to Christmas, and everyone knows that Sony/MCU title was making money hand over fist on a daily basis. It’s an outlier.
That’s because it was a good movie.
quote:
Marvel is getting beaten this summer by a Tom Cruise movie, granted a long-awaited sequel by his fans, with Top Gun: Maverick set to stand at $617.6M by tomorrow.
Also, it happens to be a really good movie.
I’m going to make a bold prediction. When GoG3 releases, unless they completely neutered Gunn, it’s probably going to make an assload of money.
Seems the common denominator here is that if you focus on making good movies, people will go see them.

This most certainly is creeping in and will turn people away. The agenda always gets attached to what is popular to influence people. They aren't going to create their own content and succeed. They have to hijack other's ideas

Serious question, what in the MCU has been woke recently?
Or are we talking about Disney as a whole?

The ending of Falcon and Winter Soldier was major cringe too.

It always makes me chuckle when white Christian conservatives say this about superhero’s that we’re almost all created by Jews.

Definitely, but I have a feeling you're going to grasp at straws. Specifically in regards to recent titles.

This topic has been popping up since Ant-Man.
And last I checked the Marvel cinematic universe isn’t exactly going under.

Captain Marvel: 1. Gender-swapped character based on a 2012 comic book 2. angry white, abusive father who Danvers runs away from to live with her “real” black family, 3. Parents treated her poorly because of her gender (she even gets to play on a boys’ baseball team!) 4. blasting Arnold’s face off the True Lies stand-up in Blockbuster just off the top of my head.
Dr Strange: gender-swapped Ancient One for a white female
Endgame: Danvers saves the day. Girl power scene
Ms Marvel: Muslim superhero show produced for diversity. The character is also the main character in the Avengers video game to the detriment of the big heroes
Thor 4: gay rocks, gender-swapped Thor. Haven’t seen it but that’s enough to know
Dr Strange 2: tranny pin. Gender-swapped Captain America for Chavez. She has 2 moms. Male characters have no power and are dying. Haven’t seen it but others complained about things in it

Judging by the downvotes, it seems like people want the MCU to die. I get it, it's too much.
IMO it's not dying but releasing terrible product. They have a lot of stuff in the works that can get it back on track, but even I as a huge comic nerd feel like it getting out of hand.
D+ is on this new kick of giving standout actors their own series, that honestly don't need it. Agatha was great in Wandavision, but she doesn't need her own show.
Now they supposedly want to give Jane Foster and Valkyrie a movie or series. Why?
Just give us the mutants, and some teamups we've been waiting for then chill the frick out

Yeah I was right, grasping at straws. Looking for reasons to be offended.
Specifically on the last two MCU movies, which you admit to not even seeing. How could you form such an opinion?
Is the MCU dying? No, that's an idiotic statement. But has it kind of taken some steps backwards post Endgame? Without a doubt. But if "wokeness" is on the list of reasons why, it's way down the list.

They aren't going to create their own ideological character as their harbinger. They will use what is already popular

You know why. The MCU will turn special needs and get bogged down in it. Instead of using established characters with cohesive story lines which is why it was so successful in Phase 1

Gender-swapped core characters is the definition of woke.
It’s Disney’s M.O. to downplay the importance of the male characters—see emasculated Luke Skywalker for reference
