re: Is the MCU dying? Thor: Love & Thunder tumbles 68% at the box office in its second weekend

Well that’s at least from my perspective as a guy who wants to watch a new blockbuster with a girlfriend. It can be hard to get them to pay attention to the damn movie at home, but I can see different priorities for people with families like cost.
Even for myself, if it’s a second viewing it takes some motivation to stay focused at home.

It's not that big of a deal to see it on a bigger screen. Sorry. It just isn't.
You would know, since you've seen it on big screen...

America Chavez just like I stated. You have a reading comprehension problem?
America Chavez isn't a gender-swapped version of anyone; unless you're referring to her name and that there is an American flag on part of her costume?
She did show up in an alternate future as Captain America in a single issue of All-New Hawkeye. That's about it.
She doesn't really share anything in common with Captain America. There have been gender-swapped versions of Captain America:
Captain Carter
Roberta Mendez (From Secret Wars 2099)
Nichelle Wright (Single issue of United States of Captain America)
Danielle Cage (Alternate universe daughter of Luke Cage):
American Dream (Shannon Carter, niece of Sharon Carter) A-Next series:
But yeah, Chavez has a LOT of flaws (being very much a Mary Sue and having some TERRIBLY cringe-worthy dialog in some panels), but being a gender-swapped version of a male character is not one of them.

You can’t tell me that character doesn’t take HEAVY influence from Captain America with a straight face. Her name is America and the costume has identical styling cues as Cap’s. Right down to the lines and the white star.
For her specifically, the gender swapping isn’t as explicit as some of the others.

You’re not wrong but at the same time the convenience difference and cost is so great that if you have small kids watching on D+ is VERY appealing
The cost thing is big. The escalating cost of a family movie experience is a big factor when you have multiple children
Even for the childless I think most people just wait for cable or streaming for anything which is not a well reviewed blockbuster.
Off the top of my head I think only Dune last year and Top Gun this year were in the "worth seeing in the theater" category.

I'm sure he did influence the character, but that's not the same as a gender-swapped version of the character. Captain Britain isn't a... British-swapped...? Version of Captain America. The name and concept definitely was inspired by Captain America, but I wouldn't call them a "swapped" version of them, regardless of gender.
Inspired characters aren't what I call "gender-swapped" versions of them, especially when actual gender swapped variants exist.

No reading problem here. The issue is, saying Chavez is a gender swapped Captain America is such a wrong statement, and frankly idiotic statement, that I gave you the benefit of the doubt. Aside from the stars they wear and the America in their name they couldn't be more unlike each other.
It's clear you don't have the first clue about America Chavez, so trust me, they aren't gender swapped. I think you're just confused. Do you even know why Chavez has a star on her jacket?

Who said I'm turning it up to theater level decibels? Even w/o a kid why would I even attempt do that in a home theater? We'd blow out our ears.
Anyway the kid's room is on the other size of the house. We can play movies pretty damn loud w/o him waking.

oh and Proximo, on the Carol Danvers thing:
Where could I buy a comic for 30 cents in 2012? You're wrong, and that's ok. I'm not even asking you to admit you're wrong. Just trying to get some sense into you. Since you know, you admitted you haven't seen either movie and clearly have no clue what you're talking about.
Kind of leads to the question of why you're still going on and on, but I digress...

Do you blow out your ears going to a movie?
All I'm trying to get you to admit is that you aren't getting the same experience at home. You may be fine with compromising, but don't tell us you're getting the same Maverick experience at home that everyone else got in an actual theater.

It doesn’t matter why woke comic book writers wanted the star. It’s just a ripoff of Cap

Are you brain dead? They turned Danvers into CAPTAIN Marvel in 2012 you imbecile

Bruh... Use your brain. A theater is a massive room filled w/people and rows of chairs. You cannot play the volume a theater plays a movie at in the average home theater. The room size alone makes it a fools errand. A small home theater at movie theater noise levels would be ridiculous.

I never once said the home experience is the same as the theater so there is nothing for me to admit.

Again, I NEVER said it's the same experience and actually said I do prefer to see it on a big screen but that the theatrical experience isn't a great enough difference that it matters to me anymore.

Lord
You literally have multiple people telling you it isn't and you're still going to believe it is, even though you admittedly have never seen the movie and clearly don't know the character at all. Have a good day friend.

That's true.
It did allow for a new "Ms. Marvel" to come onto the scene shortly afterwards. She's been a much better character than any of the other "Marvels" at Marvel, ironically (with the original Captain Marvel being created solely for the sake of maintaining the rights from DC after they purchased Fawcett and the rights to Captain Marvel aka Shazam).
Both Captain Marvel (the original male hero at Marvel) and the Danver's Captain Marvel have pretty problematic histories. Probably a testament to writers having no idea WTF to do with them half the time.

A friend of mine said that I needed to watch WandaVision to understand Strange 2. I said I shouldn’t have to watch a show for the movie to be good.
