Remember that movie The 6th Day when the QB would be cloned in secret after being killed on the field?

Should have been a 2 part film. To develop the relationships a little more, plot..etc. would have benefited imo.

The unisex showers were better.

The flack the novel gets for being “fascistic” is unfounded. Heinlein described a world in which racial, ethnic, and sexual discrimination is extinct because of the militaristic society.
Even in Verhooeven’s movie, in that shower scene, there is no piggish behavior from the boys. Despite being naked in the presence of women, everybody acts professionally.

And unrealistically.

You can’t just repress 65 million years of gut instinct…

I think religion took a big hit with interstellar travel and proof of the existence of aliens. As such, there’s really not any sexual inhibition anymore. No need to be all rape-y in the unisex shower when chances are you’ll be getting your rocks off anyway back in the bunks.

I mean, Verhoeven is from the Netherlands and public bathhouses with unisex showers and locker rooms are common. People aren't weird about it there.

There's 2 or 3 sequels and they're all trash.

That doesn’t haven’t anything to do with human nature, or acting professionally. Men can act respectfully and professionally in a unisex shower but that’s not going to stop things from rising.

No. But the COED shower after the game where Dina Meyer shows them was nice.

Just that first installment could have been longer imo

Rico runs up a non existent ramp to pull it off.
I love the move but Zander playing in HS and then less than a year later is an officer, pilot, and experienced enough to train new pilots WTF? I would love to have been in that meeting when someone pointed it out and the response was “yeah frick it have you seen the rest of the movie”.

The movie is very unrealistic.

Been there. No they aren't. some public toilet areas are unisex, but that's because the stalls are basically little rooms that have no open connection with each other. Outside of sex clubs in the cities, men and women showering together in public is far from 'common.'
Maybe 'common' wasn't the right word but I was specifically talking about public bathhouses and saunas, not public toilets.
