Personally I feel like having a movie about racism whose tag line is "YOURE WHITE YOU DONT UNDERSTAND" and calling it "Race" is a touch on the nose

Smart play by the producers to rev up the media plays after the current academy controversy

I can't take seriously any drama which has Schmitty from It's Always Sunny as a main character

It was all like "feel bad for the black people and hate the mean white people" ya know?

So in your face with it

I laughed my arse off so hard when literally no one was nominated for this movie. The tools that made this movie thought it was a shoehorn in for Best Picture win, and didn't get a single nomination.

12 Years a Slave. It had gratuitous slave beatings. And slaves.

At least that was a good movie though.

White people should boycott it.

Exactly. It had a story to tell. There is nothing about the Butler that indicates they wanted to tell a story. They had the main character's parents raped and murdered by people from a different state. Turns out that none of that remotely happened. As any historian would put it, the only thing that movie has in common with history is there was a black butler in the White House at the time. Everything else is a lie. Glad the Academy saw the bullshite and didn't even grant these racists a nomination for this racist film.

Apparently some of you are confusing race-baiting with Oscar-baiting with a racial context.

Mississippi Burning and Crash are both very good films.

Uh, it was a true story. Like it or not, those men were actually murdered by the POS's in that movie.

Oscar bait?

It is coming out in the dead season where studios just unload their garbage and hope to make a little money back on movies they know didn't work out.

War Horse is more Oscar bait than Mississippi Burning - Burning is just a damn good movie with an important story to tell.

War Horse was Spielberg at his Norman Rockwell best - pure cotton candy to tug at the heart strings.

I agree about War Horse. What was the plot? Antagonist? Protagonist?
