Seems like it.

Kurt Russell movies that I like:

Escape from NY
The Thing
Overboard
Tango and Cash
Backdraft
Unlawful Entry
Captain Ron
Tombstone
Stargate
Executive Decision
Escape From LA
Breakdown
Soldier (meh)
Miracle
Poseidon

And aside from maybe a couple of those, he was pretty great in all of them.

He's also legitimately funny. That's hard for most actors to do. He's an action star, yes, but he's been quite good in comedic roles. Honestly, I wish he would have done a few more. Overboard, Used Cars and Captain Ron are great.

I'm sure it's good, I've just never seen it. Almost put that as a note in that post.

It's like I don't even know you.

I was really hoping this thread was just gonna be an excuse to post Kurt Russell quotes.

He is pretty funny in it. The movie will be painful to watch if you don't go into it expecting it to be an over the top cheese fest with horrible special F/X.

You can definitely see a point in the mid 90's here. Executive Decision and Poseidon were pretty crappy plus his character was pretty lame. Escape from LA was painful to watch. Soldier was a good movie concept, but I don't think Russel made the movie. I can't imagine it being much different of a movie with any number of 90's action guys in it. Today it would most likely be straight to video.

It's a comedy with a little action and some magic thrown in.

It doesn't take itself seriously.

I suggest putting it on your play list for Netflix (if you have Netflix and it's on there)

I never understood why you cast one of the bigger names in Hollywood and then make him say 2 lines through the entire movie.

It would have been the same movie with any other action star, like you suggested. Russel was a warm body in that movie.

Sly, Teri Hatcher (young and hot), and Jack Palance....can't get any better.
