They reference several times in the books that Tommen is nothing like Joff.

I just read AFFC and in one of Cersei's last POVs she mentions how Robert used to force himself on her early on in the marriage. She would be bruised and what not in the morning and Robert would always deny it.

Except for "testimony" from multiple characters including Tyrion and even Jaime, but you apparently missed that part of the comment.

I knew there were other comments about that I just wasn't comfortable enough with my memory to claim them.

Spoilers:

[quote]quote:
You just completely refuted your own point. Rhaegar had a batshit crazy, evil father and he turned out ok. Joffrey just had an absent father and he turned into a miserable little count.

How? People like to point at Cersei and Jamie incestual relationship as cause for Joffrey when that is not an excuse that is all I'm referring to.

My point is it was Robert's job to teach Joffrey how to be a man and how to be a king and he completely failed in that because Robert never learned how to do those things himself. Joffrey is very very much like Robert even though he is not his son

Dude you're blaming an absent father for the reason his son became a miserable little shite when he was not around. His mother WAS around. The same mother who has been a royal bitch her entire life.

You then used ANOTHeR son, also born of incest as an example of how incest didn't matter....breaking news....HIS DAD WAS A CRAZY DERANGED a-hole YET HE TURNED OUT FINE...

He turned out fine because he didn't have a manipulative, evil, bitch of a mother in his ear his entire life.

If it truly was fathers influence that most influenced the outcome of their son then Rhaegar would've been a complete nut job, evil shite just like the mad king(using your logic)

Targaryens are said to be either made for greatness or madness. It was like flipping a coin. See Rhaegar/Daenarys vs. Aerys/Viserys.

I know, but cotton was using him as an example in comparison to Joff.

So Robert is completely relieved of any responsibility.

By your logic Joffrey ended up doing the same things Robert did not by watching Robert do them but because his mother was a bitch.

He became vindictive and spiteful not by watching his father be vindictive and spiteful. He abuses women but its not because he watched the man he thought was his father abuse women his whole life.

It was because Cersei was a bitch.

I gotcha I'm so glad I understand now.

Yes, because Cersei certainly wasn't vindictive or spiteful. I must have missed where Robert liked shooting pregnant cats...apparently he didn't like it because he beat Joffrey's arse for it. And it's not just women, Joffrey abused EVERYONE.

I never said Cersei was innocent all I've said from day one is everyone loves to blame her while pretending that Robert is this great guy because he was Neds friend.

Joffrey became who he was through a mixture of lannister genes and Roberts ineptitude. It was a perfect storm of douchebaggery. Yet Robert always gets off scott free in these discussions.

So Cersei is not vindictive and spiteful? Last I checked that's her Kind of her thing

When exactly does Joff see his dad beat or abuse women? Does Robert take Joff into the room when he drunkenly fricks Cersei or goes to a brothel?

Gee maybe like how someone abused their smaller, weaker little brother?

I really can't think of a villain that comes close to Joffrey in being such a loathsome pile of shite. Is there anyone else even in the argument?

As others has said, I don't think he holds a candle to Ramsay when it's all said and done.

You don't think he sees the bruises on his face or hears the stories throughout the castle?

You're missing the point I'm not relieving Cersei of the blame. I am just making her share the burden with Robert. I think Robert could have saved Cersei I really do, he never had any interest in that. I think he could've saved Joffrey yet again he had no interest in that.

You don't think Robert was sadistic and evil? He sent assassins to kill a pregnant Daenery's. He pardoned Jamie Lannister for breaking the most sacred oath in westeros. He pardoned Gregor Clegane and Tywin Lannister for the rape of Rhaegars wife and the murder of his children (losing the support of Dorne, one of the most powerful provinces in Westeros, in that act.)

None of that is sadistic. Pragmatic, brutal, and arguably evil, sure. But he didn't hurt people just because he could. Robert was a drunk brute, but Joffrey is a sadistic little psychopath. Neither are admirable, but they're really apples and oranges.

People quote Joffrey's killing of pregnant cats as sadistic yet it isn't sadistic to kill a pregnant woman?

Jesus Christ Robert really can do no wrong in yalls eyes can he?

He praised Tywin and Gregor Clegane for killing children. That is not sadistic?
