Oh god, I don't think I could ever get to the third season.

The best way for me to describe Girls is that there's no plot. Except Lena Dunham going for 'shock factor' and eating cakes and cupcakes naked.

I kind of think the "going for shock factor" is overused, not just with 'Girls,' but with a ton of entertainment.

If there's something strange, different, offensive, risque, etc., it's often attributed to being driven purely to shock. That's not always the case, and I hardly think it's the case with 'Girls.'

I thought How To Make It In America was a much better show in depicting the life of 20 somethings with college degrees living in NY wherein all things superficial rule the day. And that show got cancelled. Oh well.

I agree. That show was much better and had appealing boobs.

I find a lot of the scenes in Girls are grautuitous, and that could be said for most HBO shows. But GoT has toned it down somewhat from the first season, for instance. How come Lena is the only one of the 4 friends to always be naked? And why show her parents naked? And the scenes are just...incredibly awkward and unpleasant. Interestingly enough the scenes in Girls make me much more uncomfortable than the ones in the other HBO shows.

True Blood is really crappy now, that's true. Season 6 was terrible and thankfully season 7 will be the last. But at least with True Blood, the first 2 seasons were fun to watch.

You can only imagine how bad season 6 was then. . I think True Blood having 7 seasons was too much...the show probably should've only had 4 seasons at most. I'm shocked TB has lasted this long but the viewership declined to the point where it was no longer that lucrative. I think HBO realized the vampire trend has been over for a while and that its big money maker, GoT, still has another 5 seasons or so in the tank.

Trueblood is awesome. The more ridiculous it gets, the more I like it.

I was watching True Detective and it came on afterwards. I was too lazy to change the channel.

Wasn't terrible, I might check it out from the beginning.

I love TB, but yeah it needed to end a while ago.

Girls is just awful, on,y watched one episode and couldn't get into it. How people watch it is amazing.

how about, "Girls goes out of its way to make its characters the most unlikeable and terrible characters in the history of American television"?

and Dunham's nudity is pure trolling based on shock factor. to argue otherwise is to be intellectually dishonest (as Dunham does)

No way...that Terry funeral was so dragged out and stupid, it was completely ridiculous.

Honestly, I thought season one was very witty, creative, and entertaining. Second two was noticeably worse and season three has been downright shitty so far.

I watched the first episode with the wife, and when she started going off about "being the voice of her generation" I thought to myself, this is one of "those shows."

I told her this one was all hers.

i don't share your same enthusiasm, but the fall off has been dramatic. like i've said plenty of times, dunham had the ability/creativity/material for about 6 episodes. it's going into its third season now. y'all can do the math
