Is dolby cinema worth the extra price?

thinking about seeing infinity war in dolby cinema but I have a buddy telling me he barely noticed any improvement in picture quality compared to standard screen and the audio was better but not by much and wasn't really a true surround sound

I enjoy it for the sound quality. Not worth it for every movie, but for Avengers it is absolutely worth it.

If you're in Baton Rouge the new Premium Large Format theaters at Celebrity on George O'neal with Dolby ATMOS are absolutely amazing.

For movies like Avengers it’s worth it. Not every movie though. Blade Runner 2049 was awesome in Dolby

Here’s imax for a comparison. I used to only want to watch these movies in imax but images like this make me question if the extra $5 per ticket is worth it.

Yea, the “fake” IMAX theaters are basically all we get now. Wish I lived near a theater that still projected real IMAX film
Dolby doesn’t show you any more of the image, it’s just a way bigger screen than normal with better contrast and badass Atmos surround sound. I definitely prefer Dolby over the faux IMAX

Most definitely, at least at the AMC I go to.
The Dolby cinema theater has the paired seating, two large recliners that recline way back. Big, very comfortable and a lot of space between each pair of recliners. I guess the screen and sound is better too, but just the seating (reserved as well) makes it worth it to me.

The dolby atmos theater at AMC oneal also has rumble seats that synch to the sound
