I only watched it once and it was beyond cringeworthy, but watching it again I see even more just terrible things. I mean an entire truckload of Soviet troops is unloading on Indy’s vehicle from 20 feet away and no one gets hit.

It’s like they had a contest to see just how bad it could be.

Who can frick up Lucas world more? Rian or George himself?

It's a worse movie than TLJ but the TLJ pisses me off more.

I thought it was bad but never understood why people hated it because they were shocked it was aliens at the end. Of course it's fricking aliens, what else were you expecting?

Things I didn't like about it:
1. Mutt. Indy is named after a dog and they named his son Mutt.

2. Shia Lebouf was coming to an end of his career so they banked on him to move the franchise forward and lost that one.

3. the big one is that I didn't like the Russians as much as the Nazis. i understand the timing and moving the story forward to a new era, just didn't like them as much.

things I did like about:
1. the nostalgia of Indy making another run of it doing similar things. He is the franchise and that is the character, I'm fine with rehashing it.

2. The whole story of the skulls I found interesting, wasn't a huge fan of it being aliens at the end but, as above, I'm not going to complain about that as it is telegraphed the whole movie.

3. i like the refrigerator scene. It seems like some dumb shite that would happen to Indy though it shouldn't have been a nuke that dropped but a regular bomb,

That scene made Temple of Doom look like Silkwood.

Temple of Doom was purposefully filmed as a 1950's serial...and it was fun as it took a tongue in cheek approach, it was winking at the audience.

Crystal Skull was even more ridiculous but took itself seriously.

The Indiana Jones movies came out during my youth and are some of my all time favorites. I just watched Raiders and Last Crusade with my boys (they need to be a bit older to watch Temple).

I also STILL want a legit bullwhip because of those movies. I even looked into getting one few years ago because dammit...I always wanted one and am an adult now. A legit Australian bullwhip is like $900 bucks! Alas I still can’t have one.

Point being I love the whole franchise and have to say yes, Crystal Skulls is crap. They should’ve let it end with Indy riding into the sunset at the end of Crusade.

Not worst ever. Not close. It was terrible though. From acting to story to directing. It was a mess.

No, that was Spielberg using the movie as a vehicle for his little protege. He's doing the same thing with Han Solo.

I had no problem with the aliens or even the nuking the fridge bit. I mean come on, the dude survived shite just as ridiculous in the other movies. Lashing himself to a submarine for how many miles? Falling out of a plane in a raft? The magic mine kart jumps? Swimming around in petroleum filled water that gets lit on fire? Dragged under a truck that is going at high speed on a rocky road? He was hit with a shovel, shot, burned, wrecked a car at high speed in a bomb hole, wrecked a plane....

No, my problem was the massive overuse of CG it had after Spielberg straight lied in the press tour that they did mostly practical effects, the god awful lighting that makes it blatant it was shot on a set, and stupid double agent betrayal from a dude that had never been in anything before so it was obvious he couldn't be trusted from the start.

Using Sallah as the one who betrays Indy (or even be the guy he's going to save) would have had a ton more impact.

As for worst movies ever made? Not even close. Come on. It's not even the worst Harrison Ford movie.

I don’t know what you guys are talking about.

The last Indiana Jones movie was very good and was made like 30 years ago.

Watch the beginning of the movie.

The tone.

The raft scene only looks absurd in isolation. It's a great scene because it was set-up to be cartoonish.

Temple of Doom isn't selling anyone Karen Allen Raiders. It's selling Zombies of the Stratosphere.

Monkey brains?

Crystal Skull is trying to be on par with Raiders or Last Crusade. It's so absurd but never pokes fun at itself like Temple.

You can be absurd and funny but at least admit it to the audience...Temple does. Crystal does not.

It is a bad bad bad bad bad bad movie. If you said it was the worst movie of all time, I wouldn't disagree with you. It's that bad a movie.

How was it set up to be cartoonish?

It was the second action set piece in the movie. Was Indy dropping 5 stories into a car and surviving when he made the escape from the Asians supposed to indicate it was a cartoon?

I also really don't think that Crystal took it self very seriously nor do I think Raiders or Last Crusade did either.

They are aping the old serials of the 40s. They were never meant to be serious movies. Lucas has said this from the beginning.

not one of

it is THE worst movie in western cinematic history

Spielberg just combined ET with Indiana Jones and it was horrible, unimaginative, schlock

The opening scene, nightclub, the Asians and Anti-dote scenes.

Temple was aping.

1 and 2 weren't and Crystal Skull pretended it was serious and it was terrible.

I can't explain it to you if you don't see it.

THere's something charming with Temple; there is nothing charming with Crystal Skull.

So the guy who created the series and has said that is exactly what the movies are supposed to be is wrong?
