Interesting that she was 15 and did a nude and love scene. Then she smoked and drank during an interview. Different times. They definitely had chemistry.

Here they are today...

He said in the interview for the movie that he had no desire to be a movie star but rather an actor. “There’s a difference,” he said.

I remember an English teacher in high school played this movie for us. She tried to skip that scene but was unsuccessful.

The older I get the more I like DiCaprios adaptation. Late 90s Nostalgia I guess.

Saw it in 9th grade English. Had one of those younger progressive types teaching the class so she simply gave us a quick lecture before the scene came on but didn’t pretend to try and skip the scene.

Now that I think about it, she was likely screwing student(s) on the down low

I don't understand how people here lose their mind over something like Cuties but don't consider this as Hollywood pushing a pedophile agenda.

It wasn't made by Hollywood, for one

Neither was Cuties but that didn't stop anyone from blaming Hollywood.

Cuties is a little different because even in Europe those girls are considered underage. They're 11 and 12 years old. Whereas Olivia Hussey and Leonard Whiting were both 16 - which was considered "of age" in Europe in 1967 and in the present day. There was also nothing exploitative about the love scene, whereas Cuties looks very exploitative.

My Freshman year was the same year Romeo+Juliet came out with DiCaprio and Danes. A local theater also did a re-run of the 1967 version, so we got to go on field trips to see both. Enjoyed them both. '67 is pretty classic though.

To answer the question, yes.

It’s a well done period piece.

Agreed, and none of us know a damn thing about Cuties, so comparing is silly.

I guess if we assume that Cuties really is everything the people who made it and the people who saw it Sundance already swear it's not, it's troubling that Netflix would purchase and distribute it. But Paramount made a killing off purchasing and distrubiting this Romeo and Juliet.

Olivia Hussey still had a perfect arse at 56 years old in Tortilla Heaven. You don’t see that very often.

Zero people here, and 99.99 percent of the people on the internet in general, that were bitching about Cuties have seen it. That didn't stop crazy internet people from review shitblasting it on every movie rating service.

Yes. Because I remeber a kid in my English class had one of those remote control watches. We watched that scene over and over maybe 10x before the teacher figured out the VCR wasn't broken.

That sounds badass.
