Clearly you don't read comic books

People here in Chatty are pretty pissed off about this movie, not because it displays Tennessee people as backwards country folk, but because the scene with the news van when Tony complains about how slow the Internet is.....
Got to give it to them though, Chattanooga was the first city in the USA to offer the fastest Internet speeds in the world before it was even considered at Google to do fiber. It's a shitload faster than anything offered in Hollywood.

Fitting end to a mediocre franchise.
That's a great way to phrase it. I saw IM3 this weekend and even though I did enjoy it, I thought it wasn't very good. It was just SO stupid at times, like some have mentioned.
Things I liked:
- I did like how Tony gave out his home address, and then the bad guys go blow his shite up. That was actually cool that they called his bluff, so to speak. But obviously people know where he lives...he's one of the most famous people in the world (especially after the whole Avengers thing).
- I liked how they tied in the Avengers plot and kept referencing it. That was cool.
- I also liked when Tony told that kid "That's what happens sometimes...dads leave. You don't have to be a pussy about it.." Good shite.
Things I hated:
- So Tony just has to make a little movement and his suit can find him anywhere? Several times he could've used that....
- ...and he has a fricking fleet of AI Iron Man suits? Those could've come in handy long before the end, Tony.
- I was expecting LOTS more action, but we got like 95% Tony and 5% Iron Man.
- The Mandarin twist was kinda stupid, but I didn't completely hate it (I guess)...more just wished it didn't happen.
- Didn't like the Extremis angle...liked the idea of it, but didn't like the fire people. I mean, when Guy Pearce literally breathed fire like a fricking dragon, I was about ready to call it a night...that was COMPLETELY stupid. Also, I loved how he breathed dragon that one time and then never again. Weird.
- I hated the end how Tony was leaping from platform to platform like 30 feet away. I'm all for suspension of belief, but that shite was ridiculous...when he's not in the suit, he's a fricking normal person (with a vulnerable chest). Yet here he is jumping and falling 50 feet with little or no repercussion.
- Surgery? All Tony needed was surgery to fix the shrapnel? I thought the whole point was that he couldn't get that shite out, and thus needed the electromagnet heart thing or whatever? Kinda weird that they'd wait three movies to do an obvious surgery to fix his problem. shite, he could even still have used his new heart thing to power everything without the shrapnel around his heart.
- So just because Pepper gets some Extremis treatment she's now a fricking ninja badass? bullshite. All she should've done was maybe be a little stronger and able to regenerate lost limbs.
- Also, with Extremis, how could some people die but others couldn't? Some died when getting shot, and others could straight blow the frick up and still be okay. Not to mention that Tony BLEW UP an IM suit with Killian in it, and he regenerated, then Pepper kicks a grenade at him and he dies? WTF?
- It seemed pretty arbitrary that it was Christmas time. Was there any significance to that?
- Oh, and blowing up the suits at the end doesn't make any sense. frick Pepper...she knows she's dating fricking Iron Man, so there's no need for her to demand that he lay off that shite. What a bitch.
I'm sure there's more shite, but a lot of things pissed me off about this movie.

Some good points, but some of the nits you pick were touched on during the movie.
It wasn't always available. That's why he got so mad when the kid said the suit wasn't charging. He couldn't use it because it couldn't get to him until it was charged.
He couldn't pull them out until the cranes removed enough of the obstruction for them to fly out.
The modified extremis allowed this to be possible. He could never get the surgery before that was fixed.
This is legitimate because they never really fully explained what extremis was capable of. They half arse explained it and made some off hand mentions of weaponizing it. But if they had explained it more fully, this wouldn't be an issue.
The other issues you raised are legit. Just wanted to clarify a few of them.
ETA: And Guy Pearce never didn't look like a mildly retarded version of Brad Pitt. That kept bothering me.

I knew some of them were explained, just didn't quite remember the explanations. And finally reading through this thread, there are more complaints that I could've mentioned.
And like I said anyway, I did enjoy the movie...it entertained me, which is all I could ask for from the third installment of a comic book franchise I guess. But it was just so stupid at times, and certain things just were bugging the shite out of me in the theater (and that rarely happens...normally I just go with the flow and enjoy myself). I don't know if I'd call it a "bad movie," and I don't think it was. But it wasn't very good though. But I can enjoy those kinds of movies anyway. NBD.
And I agree with this:

I thought the same thing every time I saw him. I actually didn't like Pearce very much in this movie. And I never really noticed how weirdly he talks sometimes.

What was the deal about Guy Pierce's character having a shitload of PT...was he supposed to be in an accident or something, or was that to explain the Extremis change he went thru when he was super nerd?
That was some serious friggen PT. Really. PT did that?
So many other things to
at in this flick...mainly Robert Downey Jr. just mailed this in for sure. No effort what so ever. I felt like he was hanging out with Charlie Sheen in his trailer before every take - all of his scenes reminded me of "Winning"
He seemed as though he had absolute zero understanding of the role he was playing, and couldn't care less.
Done. Pay me.

Wait, that was an Iron Man movie? Sure it was entertaining, but it did not feel like a superhero movie. Pretty disappointed.

Christmas angle is so that they can strike a deal with FX to play the shite out of this movie on Christmas Eve.

Caught IM3 last night.
I thought it was alright, entertaining definately and was never bored with it...but just nothing truely memorable (outside of the plane sequence, that was awesome).
All the concerns brought up already I agree with. Didn't like the Mandarin twist and wish we could of seen the movie with him being the villian. I literally laughed out loud when Killian was breathing fire and the ending after the oil rig battle seemed rushed as hell. Seems like they dumbed down the story for a 10 year old audience.
All in all I'm glad I saw it but won't be catching it again unless it's on cable. Nothing memorable and IM1 kicks the shite outta it. Hell I think I enjoyed IM2 a bit more too, those atleast felt like "Iron Man" movies...IM3 was too off the wall.

If they would have been true to the comic book version of The Mandarin IM3 would have been more off the wall. It would have been very difficult to portray his ten rings in a semi-real world setting. The Marvel Universe could have allowed it IMO since it operates in more of a comic bookish reality.
It would have tied in nicely with Thor since it seems The Dark World is going to show off a lot more magic.

so i take it the mandarin wasn't really the mandarin.
i can buy the movie for one dollar at the bazaar shops here once i get time. so if it worth it to watch for one dollar.
btw i did like ironman two. i am a mickey rourke fan. and i think guy pierce is phenomenal in any acting gig he gets

would 3 have been better if ironmans bodyguard (i cant remember his real name right now) wrote and produced the film again. instead of an executive or assistant producer.

I just got back from seeing this movie and obviously it was VASTLY disappointing about the Mandarin. I'm not even a big Iron Man guy, but come on it's the hero's arch villian. I believe they hinted to him in IM1 and this is the treatment the character gets?
To those who say he might be too over the top? It's the fricking Marvel Universe, where a split division of Nazis had laser guns in WWII, and there's a guy walking around(in space) with an Infinty Gauntlet.
They chose to pass on Iron Mans greatest villian. Maybe they can rectify somehow, with an actual Mandarin the future, being in the shadows the whole time.
Other than that, the movie wasn't bad, the scenes with the kid were the great.
no one remote mention of S.H.I.E.L.D was odd. Aren't they everywhere?
Finally, the Banner scene might have been the best scene in the movie.

how awesome would it be that the Mandarin truly is the Mandarin, and he fooled everyone into thinking he was an actor. i bet he shows up again in another movie, and surprises everyone.
Never happening dude they don't want the Mandarin as a villain because the Chinese would be pissed and they could not make as much money on the franchise. Now as a purist I say frick the Chinese and make the movie right and only make 800+ Million and not 1 Billion.

As a huge Marvel fanboy and superhero nerd in general I enthusiastically say frick this movie.

It was vastly inferior to the first two. I liked the new Star Trek waaaay better.
Too much screentime with no Iron Man. The same reason I didn't like Thor--I want to see super hero action, not dudes stripped of their powers.
And how did his armor fly from Tenn to Miami in minutes? They said it was 890 miles away. So the armor flew at like 10,000 mph?

I just saw it yesterday and, without reading the thread, my feeling is that it had the matrix sequel effect. It took every aspect of the Ironman universe and took it to the nth level, which kind of sucks

Saw it this weekend. I am not trying to be Debbie Downer, but I did not like it.
I'm a huge fan or these type of movies and it was just too choppy and predictable.
